Does anyone now if there are any plans to release House of M in Hardcover form? I figured marvel would have released it in hardcover considering it was supposed to be a huge event, but I have yet to see or hear anything on the matter. I'd hate to buy the tpb's just to end up buying a hardcover down the line.

Actually if I may jump on the House of M topic, and take advantage of any readers who may drop by... I just managed to find a copy of the CW: Opening Shot sketchbook, which lists various issues and TPBs on the back cover as 'Road to Civil War' books. House of M is among them, as is Disassembled, the actual marked Road issues, a Hulk issue for some reason...
Anyway, what I'm wondering is, is M worth it? I wasn't a Marvel reader at the time, so I missed it completely. I've picked up the gist of the story from wikipedia and references in CW, so I'm not asking whether M is valuable as a prelude to CW (I'm pretty much leaning towards it not being so except in the vaguest sense, like Disassembled). But I have this dratted Asperger's compulsion to have a complete collection in any case, and given that a TPB is not a cheap thing, I'm wondering if it's worth it.
So here's the deal: I like superheroines more than superheroes, so a decent amount of female characters is something I look for in anything I read. I'm not so much a fan of the whole X-Men/mutant theme - doesn't much do it for me, issues or characters. I'm a big fan of Carol Danvers, and interested in the 'Captain Marvel' experiences she had in M, that've been alluded to in her current title. And in terms of 'events' so far, I thought Disassembled was entertaining but shallow, and I'm adoring Civil War so far.
So taking that into consideration, could anyone hazard a guess as to whether I should lay down AU$30 on the primary House of M TPB, or should I just let it slide?

I would pick it up. Ms. Marvel has a nice role in the story as well as a few other heroines. Personally, I enjoyed House of M and we are still dealing with the aftermath so that in itself tells me it is worth it. Basically if you have the extra cash to spare I say go for it.

Dont bother with House of M, I can sum up what happened in a couple of sentences and save you the money. The aftermath is more interesting. Stick to Civil War for an excellent read.

I'd hate to buy the tpb's just to end up buying a hardcover down the line. I'm kind of doing the same thing since I was expecting a HC as the first type of collected edition. I'm guessing that they're going to do an oversized HC of some sort including the more crucial tie ins or something.

There's a nice sampling of female characters, both Avenger and X-Man, that appear during House of M and do their fair share of superheroing. Most notably Emma Frost, Mystique, Spider-Woman, Rogue, She-Hulk, and Ms. Marvel. Scarlet Witch is only a presence in the first and last issues and Ms. Marvel doesn't get that big of a role. The post-HoM issues of New Avengers and Ms. Marvel actually flesh out her experience during the event alot more than the main book since she didn't have her own dedicated HoM tie in (or book for that matter) at the time.
Overall I'd read it at the shop or library before you buy. Personally I loved the charaterization, the story, and the conflicts within the mini but everyone is different.

The only book worth getting from the House of M is Black Panther. Specifically where he kills Sabretooth. He managed to do in one book what Wolverine hasn't been able to do in decades.
