Wow. The Brave and the Bold one is a weird choice. I'd much rather they reprinted all Brave and the Bold stories instead of just Batman Team-Ups. That really dampens my enthusiasm for that book. It kind of goes against everything I like about the Showcase Presents (and Essential) Volumes. Oh well.

Great news about the Justice League Vol. 2 though. That's definately one I'd like to see them continue indefinately.

I just got off the phone with Mike Sekowsky's widow to tell her about the new JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA collection in SHOWCASE. She said that she's been on DC's comp list for any and all reprints of Mike's work, and that all-around good-guy Paul Levitz has been instrumental in seeing that she's paid royalties on these reprints. Most of all, she kept expressing that Mike would NEVER have believed that his work would be reprinted in such a variety of formats fourteen years after his death.

Now let's see a collection of Mike's DIANA PRINCE, WONDER WOMAN!

Aloha,

Scott!

I've got a very strong hunch that we'll see Mike's Mod Diana begin to be collected in 2007. The buzz about that run has been growing noticeably over the last few years, and I can't imagine DC will put it off much longer, especially considering the range their reprint collections are starting to show.
I'm happy they're limiting the B&B series to the Batman teamups. That means Volume 2 will reach the beginnings of Aparo's long run on the title. And most of the non-Batman installments are in the first Archive Volume, which apparently disappointed a lot of its readers--it took DC a while to get the hang of doing team-ups and these installments in particular show the growing pains: team-ups where one co-star makes little more than a cameo (Metal Men & Atom), one co-star is "possessed" and thus not himself for most of the story (Flash & Spectre), the co-stars barely interact(Aquaman & Hawkman), instead having parallel adventures that interconnect (Three Battle Stars)...the Batman teamups will provide a consistency and allow the reader to get to the good stuff quicker--plus will allow the volume to have a more attention-grabbing title. Good move, I say. Now hurry up with Volume 2!

Since I have the original comics reprinted in these two volumes, I'll be passing on both. There are collections of Unknown Soldier and Phantom Stranger both coming up, though, yes?

I summon the anticipation!

Seeing as I've just picked up the last issue to complete the set (#180), I'm sure a collection will come out any day now. It's the story of my life... :)

I see the logic; When people think Brave and the Bold, they think Batman team-ups.

And while I love team-up books, I'd just as soon have Kubert's Viking Prince and (especially) Silent Knight stories from the early Brave and Bolds.

Maybe later?

The "mod Diana" (I've always thought of her as the Mrs. Peel Diana) are really the only several-issues-in-a-row series of WW I have after all these years--I'd be really happy to see them in a single Showcase volume!

I would buy Mod Diana, but not these two because I have most of the single issues for B&B that I'm interested in and most of the Archive issues for Justice League.

Yeah, I'd love a Sekowsky Wonder Woman showcase.

And, for my complaining, I'm getting these two as well. I haven't read many of the pre-Aparo B&Bs, but I'm a HUGE sucker for team-up books, and I remember the Fox/Sekowsky JLA seriously pickin' up steam around issue 25.
