I see 24 hour comic day (http://24hourcomics.com/) is nearly upon us once again, and I'm thinking of participating this year.
Who's with me?
Arrr!

Yeah, I remember this from last year. Pretty cool concept. Is that written and drawn in 24 hours, or just written?

I'm thinking seriously about it.
Sucks that teams can't do it but still.

It's everything.
You start the day with blank paper, you end it with a finished 24 page comic.
That's the theory, anyhow.

Nothing to stop you doing it as a team. What's important is the self-challenge, not whether you get on the list. I mean, hell, it would be easy enough to cheat. Anyone can get on the list.
I'm hoping to con a comicking friend or two to join me in this mad scheme. Staying up all night drawing yourself blind isn't nearly as much fun unless you can make others suffer too.

Well, there is the inflicting of needless suffering.
Who doesn't love that?

Hmmm... considering how long it takes a couple of artists friends to draw a single comic strip... I don't think I'm gonna mention this to them.

A collaborative comic isn't technically a 24 hour comic... but so what? If what you really want to do is a collaborative comics marathon, 24 Hour Comics Day is a great day to do it, and a 24 Hour Comics Day event is a great place to do it. The day serves to take something that many people meant to do "someday" and get them to actually do it by saying "Now! Today is the day!" And a 24 Hour Comics Day gathering is full of creative energy, of people who are there doing comics and sharing the energy and snacks for 24 hours. What more could you want?
(Of course, you should consider doing a real 24 hour comic - it's a great learning experience, even if you don't finish the comic you learn what your capable of, and if it means doing parts of the creative effort that you don't usually do, that's an even better learning experience.)
