Hi All,

I am looking for just the name of an old classic comic. It was either a comic that apeared in a comic magazine several times or it evolved on its own. Basically thats what I am trying to find out I can not for the life of me remember the comic name. If I can figure out the name then I could search farthur. Ok I will tell you what I know or what I can remember.

Ok, I got the comic when I was a kid roughly 1976-1978 It was in a horror/ Scifi type magazine comic book kind od like Creepy or Eeery. I am pretty sure it wasn't either of those it was in however it may have been featured in one of those before. The Story in there that I remember was to be continued in the next issue so I am sure it was in at least 2 issues. The story was a preacher I believe he was giving last rights to a mob boss, some thugs broke in to make sure the mob boss died and the one took out a switch blade and cut this preachers face from his lip up through his eyeball into his forehead and then shot him. Yeah it was a pretty graphic horror comic. Anyway a year or so passes and these mobsters start to get killed by a mysterious man in a trench coat with a sawed off shotgun he would cut these other mobsters in half. He got all the way to the top guy and killed him then he took off his big black hat and bandana that covered his lower half of his face. It was the preacher taking his revenge.

Thats all I can remember of the comic sorry it is pretty vaugue but it was about 30 years ago, That magazine had some other stories in there one I know was either in creepy or eeery Where a woman is on the back of a giant lizard and the lizard talks and keeps trying to get her to remember the world as we know it. She has the ability to manifest anything she thinks about in her mind. Well she starts to remember trees, then houses then everything starts to come back the Lizard was her boyfriend she caught him cheating on her and when she remember this she yells out You rat you dirty stinking lizard I wish the whole world would just go away and boom they are right back where they began. A woman on the back of a lizard.

Anyway if anyone can tell me what the comic was with the preacher I would greatly apreciate it. I recently cleaned out the last of my old books and stuff from my mothers house, tons of old Mad Magazines, Conan the Barbarian, Moon Knight and so on from the 70s but this one was my absolute favorite I remember reading it so much and so many times I wore the cover off. I never did get the second issue as I never found that magazine at any local newstand in small town Indiana. I remember my Dad bought it for me when we were on a trip in Chicago.

It was Eerie--Color art by Rich Corben. Let me check the internet...

I think it was Eerie #62: http://www.comics.org/details.lasso?id=28189

The character was The Butcher; story by Bill DuBay.

Thats it as soon as I seen the title "The Butcher", I looked at that cover and looked at the cover it just doesn't seem right but with the title and author I did some digging the issue I had was number 90 Where they reprinted it. Along with "A woman scorned" The corver art hit me like a brick.

Now faced with the dillema, do I try to buy an old copy of that issue again or is it better left untouched in the memory of a 8 year old kid. Sometime things are much better remembered.

Thanks again.
