The symbioted villains, like Scream/Carnage/Hybrid/Agony/Toxin and all. Though that's even more unlikely.
I also want Legend figure of...:

Arcade
Nightcrawler
Marrow
Jester

...and that's roughly it :P

There has already been a Marvel Legends nightcrawler. I think he was in the Galactus series (or the one right before that.)

Pics of the 6" ML Spider-Man Movie series are up now on Cooltoyreview.

Unfortunatly, even though I think ML 1 wasn't bad and ML 2 was great... these arn't that great looking. Hopefully these turn out to be early prototypes. Since a few tweaks could make them look much better. The two Spider-Man and New Goblin figures are pretty good though. And the Green Goblin, Doc Ock, and Mary Jane are fairly decent. Honestly, Sandman and Venom are probably the two worst figures of the bunch. Sadly.

Sandman: http://www.cooltoyreview.com/photo.asp?image=http://www.collectinghq.com/im/0010052.jpg

Doc Samson looks girly. King and McGuiness Hulk don't cut for me. I already have a pretty good looking Hulk from his old toyline and I like ML's Planet Hulk better than this King Hulk.

The only one I really want is the Red King. I could put him next to Annihilus and IronMan so I could have the villian from CivilWar, Planet Hulk and Annihilation.:p

Nice Find but I think I can live without a Fin Fang Foom BAF.

Plus I got to save up for that upcoming awesome F4 toys!

I'll get the Red King and maybe Valkryie. WWH only if they give it more articulation.

Valkyrie? How DOES she fit into the Hulk set ...? I mean, maybe the Harpy ... eh. It's still the only one I want in the set.

That Mary Jane figure is awful, and yet still looks better than Kirsten Dunst.

So, what about the figures they're putting in the Marvel ads now? Build a Pitt or Ape things ... I'm really looking forward to the Judge Dredd and Death ones :)

It looks like Series V and VI were on display going by the above info.

It appears we may be getting an X-Men boxset. As Juggernaut (X-Men Repaint) Professor X, AXM Shadowcat, AXM Cyclops, FA Iceman, and Wolverine (Brown) were on display infront of the already relased TRU Boxsets.

The Fantastic Four BAF series showed up in China. The final figures turned out really nice. They even gave Namor a light paint wash, so that his skin looks better. Much like Hercules, but much lighter and not so jarring. Looking good. I'll likely only get Namor though, not a huge FF fan. Though the whole wave is tempting. :)

Good lord, so Mr. Fantastic is stuck with those joints?

Ugh, I'm sorry but these are worse than I expected them to be. At best I'll get Dr. Doom and Thing since they aren't too bad but the rest have awful paint jobs. This is a travesty, I wished that someone took Marvel Legends licence away from Hasbro already and gave it back to Toybiz because these are way below par.

I've had enough.

DaeJi
09-02-2007, 03:39 PM
Well, the actually figures themselves aren't bad, and it's nice to get a female Marvel Legend figure that isn't all fugly. Still, the paint jobs aren't up the level they were at while the line was with ToyBiz; seriously, that's the one thing keeping Hasbro's Marvel Legends line from being as good or better. They need to paint these toys better and stop using as few (and bright) colors as possible. At least the Namor and Doon look good.

It's not just the paint either, the articulation (one of the main draws of the line) has just shot down the tubes. They're using crappy joints on the elbows and knees with limited movement and they're taking away all that was good about the line. I couldn't even find Wave 2 in TRU and had to get them in specialty comic shops for way overpriced standards.

Now the ML line has come down to becoming slightly more poseable DC Direct style figures but with horrible paint jobs.

Tuan
09-02-2007, 04:55 PM
Finally, we get a good looking Doom, with his mask on! I didn't know Doom and Ronan's masks came off. Cool. But I don't like the paint job on Doom's face. Instead of a scarred face, he looks like someone put peanut butter all over it. And he looks like he's smiling somewhat. Weird. Sorry, but Namor's paint job makes him look like he's been out in the sun too long. Like sunburn. lol. Thing, Ronan, Doom, Invisible Woman, and Moleman for me. Pass on the rest. I already have a decent looking Mr. Fantastic anyways. And thanks for the pics by the way.

If you want pointless joints and poop-smear paint washes, you have everything Toy Biz has done.

I don't recall Namor having a bright orange skin tone.

He looks like he's been deep fried. Pass the tarter sauce. At least the Hasbro one looks human.

Better orange skin than a Richard Nixon looking Namor:

Wow, most of those FF ones look decent, i might have to actually get them. I just wish Invisible Woman wasn't in that outfit and Torch didn't have what appears to be cheese on his head. Oh yeah, the Surfer also jobs to the Toy Biz one, but since I want Ronin i'll probably end up getting them all.

The only one that I really dislike is Torch. The transitional fire effects just do not work. Is there any chance of a fully "flame on" version, a la the corresponding Icons figure?

Hasbro said in one of their recent Q&A's that there wasn't plans for variants in the series. But I'm sure that Torch will likely get re-released at some point in the fully "Flame On" look.

I wonder who's bright idea it was to ok the flaming head.

I have to say, this FF line is just another example of Hasbro doing horrible, with a few moments of brilliance. The Doom is definitely much improved, and I do like the Mr. Fantastic all stretched out; if you look at the old ML Mr. Fantastic, it really is out of date.

But Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and Namor? Horrible! I mean, they show Human Torch fully in flames in each picture on the packaging, and he's in that "transition" mode? And the Invisible Woman - I guess they couldn't get a good picture of Sue in that costume they put her in; shouldn't that have told them something? Namor's face really doesn't look human. The body sculpt is ok, and it's good to have one in the green trunks, but they should have just stolen the old head - it was already perfect.

This line really is making me rethink whether I want to keep getting Marvel Legends, and I have been collecting them from the very beginning. It's just getting to be too much for the lack of quality.

You mean they didn't go all the way and just use the Sue costume that had the "4" formed by her cleavage?

I haven't been all that amazed by the Hasbro Legends, thus far. They have a few good figures here and there (so far, Ultimate Iron Man is still the sweetest figure they've built), but in most cases it's been fairly mediocre. One thing I don't like about any Legends (Toy Biz & Hasbro) is that their women figures are often over-articulated.

There's a rule of thumb for drawing women. The more lines you add to a woman, the more you age her. With action figures, the more articulation you add, the lousier the figure. Also, all Marvel Legends female figures are guilty of one thing. They make the characters so thin. I think I've only been happy with one female figure from Marvel Legends...and that was Psylocke.

Unlike with Star Wars where you could pick anyone to be made, there's 10 pre-selected prototype figures in the poll. And the winner of the poll will be put into production for a Hasbro Toy Shop exclusive figure. I really like all of them, and hope they get released at retail at some point. :)

If I had to pick one I'd go for Silver Samurai since he hasn't had a figure yet.

Gambit: Sucks, he even has the wrong eyes so leave him out.

Aurora: Has a pretty decent sculpt and paint job but the articulation blows same for Lilandra (change the face).

Mags: Looks pretty good outside of not having double jointed parts in the elbows and knees.

Northstar, Silver Samurai, Storm and Sunfire the best of the 8 but again we already have a Storm so that can wait even though I like that costume the best so far. I'd have those 4 made but if given just one choice then SS.

Northstar and Aurora are nice sculpts but their characters don't interest me enough to want the fig now. Same with Lilandra.

I hate that version of Gambit and Sunfire. Why not a regular version of Sunfire instead?

I was never able to pick up a Mags fig so Mags would be the third choice. Looks better than the previous one.

Storm and Silver Samurai have the best sculpts of the choices. That is definitely my favorite costume of Storm. But Will is right, we already have multiple Storms. She can wait.

The easy choice would be Silver Samurai!

LOL...wtf? Was ANOTHER Gambit really necessary? Especially in the "uniform team" costume that never went over well? Lilandra is a huge puzzle too...since when is she "legendary" material? C'mon...we still don't have a freakin' Medusa or Tigra yet. They (as well as Dazzler, Polaris, etc) would certainly qualify before Lilandra... Sunfire was only ever "big" in AoA and he's just recently getting a resurgence--still say Polaris should have made the cut several lines before he did...

I'm glad they're doing that Storm costume, it was always my favorite--hopefully it poses better than the first Storm figure they released. Northstar and Aurora look alright.

I really hope Hasbro cracks down and releases some figure that need to be released. We have characters like Longshot, Deathlok, X23, now another Gambit, Lilandra, and too many Iron Man armors to count... Polaris, Cannonball, Dazzler, and Medusa are long overdue by this point. Even Silver Sable (who I like, don't get me wrong) would make more sense than Lilandra or Longshot!

The fourth wave has had many, many revisions - I think of all of the lists I've seen have included about 15 different characters in all - and I don't think it's going to show up until early next year at the rate that Wave 3 is making its appearance. Who knows..they may try to get it out in time for Christmas but it's looking sketchy.
The wave is actually going to suck for me - each time I see a revision I think, okay, that's a cool character, I might get that one. Next list - the cool character is gone and they've put in a BAF I really want. Darn you, Hasblow!

I am pretty impressed with this line up. I never thought in a million years that I would get a Union Jack ML fig. Definately a step in the right direction. Adam Warlock is also a very cool choice. Spiral, excellent choice, Mogo is getting lonely. US Agent is figure long time in coming. Another Avengers to add to the shelves.

Symbiote Spidey and Silver Savage... I'll get them for the BAF pieces, but not something I would buy alone.

I'd like to see more Invader Characters... Human Torch Jim Hammond and Toro would be very cool. Granted those are easy customs.. but Hammond in his red jumpsuit with flames coming off him. Very cool. Speaking of Invaders, WINTER SOLDIER please..... and how about a Aleksander Lukin
figure with removable Red Skull mask. Agent 13 would be another cool figure.

More Annihilation figures also...

I'd probably buy 3 Madrox figures. Although they'd have to decide whether to do his "classic," original X-Factor, or current X-factor look. And if they did the current one, whether to use the old or new t-shirt design.

The Fantastic Four BAF series showed up in China. The final figures turned out really nice. They even gave Namor a light paint wash, so that his skin looks better. Marvel Legends 3 should be showing up soon. Some were available the other day on Hasbro Toy Shop, but they're currently sold out. After seeing carded and loose pics, I think Hasbro's really stepping up the game and doing much better with the license. This is their learning year, so hopefully they get even better. :)

I just got my HML3 today from BBTS..... wow.... best Hasbro set yet....

Brood Queen I like it... reminds me of a pissed off Palmeranian (sp??) she goes well with the Brood from the Marvel Select line

Captain America and Bucky are awesome... I never thought I would get a Bucky legend... but Hasbro has come thru....

Cyclops.... perfect in everyway.... he's standing with my Astonishing Crew right now

Marvel Girl has got me wanting to play Legend of Zelda... I see her and I see Link..... great figure though...

X3 Colossus is blah for me.... I got him because i want my Brood Queen to be complete...

Black Knight... I've wanted this characters since ML1.... no, not Hasbro.... Toy Biz Series 1

Danger... meh... she'll live on my evil mutants shelf... she is well sculpted but meh... she doesn't pump me up....

Hydra Soldier.... probably the best figure in the line for 2 reasons.... he's a freaking Hydra Soldier..... and the other is that he is well built... I look forward to getting a few more...

I see blowing my ML budget for next year just on the Hydra Soldiers....

Listen Up HASBRO...... Madame Hydra aka Viper please......

and more Captain America villians while you are at it..... AIM Troops, Serpent Society especially Diamondback, Crossbones and Sin.... Baron Zemo II.... and throw on a big healthy dose of BAF Sleepers....

What I want to see personally.....Let see....
Secret Empire goons
AIM goons

Hellfire Club Goons

Agreed! They get a lot a face time. I'd really like some AIM troops to go with my MODOK BAF... He is kind of lonely with only Mandarin standing next to him....

Speaking of which, I hope the Iron Man movie (similar to the recent Fantastic Four Wave) bares some Iron Man bad guys fruit, like Titanium Man, Crimson Dynamo, Blacklash, Blizzard, Ghost and the rest of Iron Man's rogues....

I am really beginning to trust the product Hasbro has been putting out...

Marvel Legends '08 information from Cool Toy Review. Can't wait for the 3 3/4" stuff.
At first it would seem that we’re getting the short end of the stick with Hasbro’s Marvel Legends collection, since we’re only seeing two waves (at least for now) in the 2008 line. That’s only 12 figures in total. Thing is, they will also be giving us a few new 6” lines to fill in the gaps. Collectors can expect to see:

Marvel Legends Two Packs
This line will initially se six different sets, each with a pile of interchangeable parts, such as heads and hands not to mention a bunch of accessories.

Spider-Man Heroes & Villains Assortments
There are plans to see 48 6” figures in this line, split evenly between the good guys and the bad guys.

The Spectacular Spider-Man Animated Action Figure Assortment
No word yet on scale, but these 16 figures will be based on the new animated Spidey cartoon.

Iron Man Movie Basic Action Figure Assortment
So far we’ve seen five of the planned 16 figures in this series.

Hulk Action Figure Assortment
This summer Hasbro will be releasing two waves, each of four figures, based on the comic book characters in the Hulk realm, each with a build-a-figure piece of Fing Fan Foom.

Incredible Hulk Movie Action Figure Assortments
There will be 12 basic and another 6 deluxe figures based on the new film coming out in 2008. No word on how big these will be, but its safe to say they’ll fit in the 6” scale.

So, even with only two waves of Marvel Legends, Hasbro has no plans to let the Marvel Comics heroes disappear from the shelves. To support the figures, Hasbro will also be filling the old toy shelves with a lot of other related products. Collectors will find the following in 2008:

Marvel Legends Universe Action Figure Assortment
This collection will see the heroes represented in a new kid-friendly scale. Each 3 ¾” figure will come packed with a top secret profile. There is a better than likely chance this will be an interactive game collection not unlike toy Biz’s Superhero Showdown. Right onw there are two waves of 6 figures planned for a 2008 release.

Marvel Legends Transformers
Well, there are 8 of these planned, and we guess some people might like them…

The Invincible Iron Man Figure
This 12” figure will feature snap-on armour, weapons, jet pack, and helmet.

Ultimate Electronic Hulk
This 12” tall Hulk figure will feature a Double-arm Smash Action, and surprisingly, lights (and sounds).

Repulsor-Power Iron Man
This figure will be the ultimate Iron Man figure with lights and sounds.

Spider-Man Roto Cast Assortment
This collection will have 7 10” Spider-Man roto cast figures.

Hulk Battle Roto Cast Figures
Roto cast figures based on the Hulk and the Abomination.

Spider-Man Ooze Attack Webworld Action Figure Assortment
This oozetastic series will start off with four figures.

Marvel Unleashed 360 Action Figure Assortment

The Invincible Iron Man Figure
This 12” figure will feature snap-on armour, weapons, jet pack, and helmet.

I didn't know how relevant this picture would be in this thread, but I guess it's as good a place as any. Anyway, I found a picture of what appears to be the 12-inch Iron Man figure...

And wait...20 new Super Hero Squad packs, 6 Mega packs, and 6 more themed packs with 4 figures in each...????

Can you say bought?

I gave myself an early Christmas gift today: I finally found Bucky, Black Knight and Cyclops from the new wave. I previously scored a Marvel Girl, so all I'm on the lookout for now is a Hydra solider (or six).

I'm pleasantly surprised by the workmanship on Cyclops. This figure is spot on with Cassaday's art.

Hasbro's distributing them in the same manner. It's up to the stores to restock.

Frankly I almost never found Toy Biz's Marvel Legends in the stores. At least I can find Hasbro's.
I'm sorry dude but either Hasbro's distribution sucks or all the Toy's R Us's in NY don't want to carry them.

I really have no idea why Wave 3 isn't out yet in stores outside of comic shops, it's truly baffling. Perhaps it's because TRU keeps getting clogged with those "special edition" figures that they leave no space for new figures but I haven't seen new waves in TRU since the first one.

In other news I was able to snag Black Knight and Rachel and I must say I was pleasantly surprised by how good they were. I still miss the double joints as I think Rachel could have used them on her arms but a good effort so far. I want to get Danger, Cyclops, and if possible Bucky next.

It seems hit or miss with the distribution. I'm in the East, too, and until yesterday I only saw a single Marvel Girl, a single Danger and 3-4 X-3 Colussuses...Colossi? Whatever.

I have to think post-Christmas you'll start to see NY flooded with cases that have been sitting while silver-crap exclusives clogged up the pegs there.

ok, I just finished off my brood queen set, finally found a marvel girl figure; but when I was at Wal-Mart, they only had 2 of the black "variant" figures, and none of the regular Rachel figures. Did Hasbro switch which was the variant? It confused me.

No. You're just seeing the case rotating over to the all variant case.

I really hate how stiff the Hasbro figures are. It's so hard to get a character to stand at a specific position.

I much prefer it over the soft plastic Toy Biz was using, where some figures couldn't stand up.

You mean a top heavy character like Colossus? Okay, you got a point, but the latest figures are extremely difficult to pose and contort.

Just got my 2 in the mail from Hasbro today. One of each variant. If I see any more at retail, I'll pick them up, but I'll cap my army at 4-5 for the sake of finances and shelf space.

I also got the Marvel Selects White Queen figure. Speaking of Marvel Selects, I know they are coming up with a Coipel version of Thor for the line, but what other characters would you like to see Marvel Selects do over the next couple of years? Try to make a list of top 3.

The Superhero Squad things are so adorable, I saw them at Wal-Mart and my friend said, "They have the effing Wasp, they have to have Anaconda." :(

Needless to say, I'd totally buy the Deadpool one, but I don't want the lame azz Punisher.

In my opinion there's only one character Marvel Select have to do:
They should make an 'ultimate' Winter Soldier with interchangeable heads (long and short hair), left arm and hands. Load him up with weapons and a cool base so we can have both versions of him (villain and anti-hero).

Beast

Meh, not a fan of Marvel Select due to the incompatable scales. Thankfully Winter Soldier's supposed to be coming this year from Hasbro at some point. Hopefully in the deluxe 2-Packs. :)

Re: Super Hero Squad. Marvelous News has pics of some new 4-Packs.

Superhero Squad: X-Men Unite - Juggernaut Attacks! 4-Pack

There's also hi-res pictures of the Hulk/Spider-Woman, Deadpool/Punisher (Post Civil War Captain America costume), and Cable/Captain America.

Thanks to Discogod from UK Toyfair. Here's some more teases of the Fin Fang Foom Hulk wave scheduled for later this year. This is the first time we're seeing images of what was classed as Wave 1. I have to say, they all look pretty damn good. Too bad I'm not a Hulk fan. Can't wait for Toy Fair. :D

I wonder how big will Foom be when assembled? He's looks well sculpted.

Absorbing Man looks nice as does Wendigo. Wendigo could easily be a BAF himself no? He's a little bigger in size? At least that's what I remember when Byrne drew him fighting Wolvie and Alpha Flight back then. How big will he be?

Foom's supposed to be about 12" tall upon being assembled.

Note that the Foom picture isn't final. As for the other figures, not sure on size. Roughly Hulk scale.

Big news. It appears that Hasbro is doing a Ka-Zar, Shanna, and Zabu box-set. It may be exclusive to San Diego Comic Con, as the figures will debut there. They've even gotten Frank Cho to design the box art.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ka-Zar
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shanna_the_She-Devil
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zabu

You can see the 2 Box Flaps so far here. The other art will be up soon. :)

http://www.apesandbabes.com/frankchoforum/viewtopic.php?t=3930&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0
You guys are probably wondering what these art are from. Hasbro recently hired me to do the box art for their massive action figure toys, which will contain Shanna, Kazar and Sabu.

These two are the art for the box flap.

The front will have a massive art by me with all three figures, Shanna-Kazar-Sabu.

I have to rescan the Shanna-Kazar-Sabu art and will give it to Ugo to post later.

This Hasbro action figure will debut in San Diego Comicon.
Frank Cho wrote:

GAAAAAAAAHHHH! I hate religious conservative nut jobs.

Everything was approved by all departments and the product on the fast track. Until some ultra-conservative VP at Hasbro saw the Shanna box art by me. She flipped out and ordered the art department to cover Shanna up.

On the box art, Shanna is now wearing a leather skirt. While the plastic action figure inside will be wearing a leather bikini.

This has to be a record for me. I did 3 covers/art in row and all 3 were censored or altered.

Don't worry, I'll post the uncensored Shanna box art this weekend.
