agreed, but considering it's a different company it's hard to know what they are going to do. I hate the movie line, they have a relative short life and then you are stuck with a figure for a movie that nobody knows in a few years, and usually the movie figures (spidey excepted) are worse looking than the actual comic characters anyway.

IMO, the recent switch to Hasbro is kinda troubling, IMO. The packaging is great, but they started off with some pretty weak figures. Of the recent line, I was really excited about the Ultimate Iron Man and Emma Frost figure...and Emma looks really fugly.
I want to get a Beast figure and an Emma figure just to add to my Astonishing X-Men character set. There hasn't been a single Cyclops figure that I liked...the recent one with the huge buccaneer flaps on his boots is pretty fugly, as well.

the emma figured totally bit the big one(haven't decided if Emmas body will be good enough to turn into a sin figure from brubakers current captain america run, it may be too 'busty' but maybe not), the ultimate iron man looks good but it looks 'wrong' (scale or size or something) The beast was so-so. Hercules almost looks decent.
I'm holding out hope that the next line may be interesting, unfortunately I have to buy this entire line because annihilus is so worth it.

Yeah, I was hoping the Ultimate Iron Man figure would be a lot bigger. However, that's a minor complaint as the actual figure is solid.
I'm still holding out hope that Hasbro will produce another Colossus figure, as the Colossus (and Blackheart) from the Toy Biz Legends are two of my favourite figures.

Actually they didn't get rid of the wrist swivel on all characters. Beast still has it for one. I can understand ditching it on Emma, given the delicate nature of the articulation point. Not sure on the rest. And yeah, cutting a few articulation points keeps the cost down, especially with the price of oil right now.
Well most of them had wrist swivels so that's not a big problem, Annihilus could have really used them though.
As for the articulation joints, if Hasbro said that they were cutting down the articulation because of oil costs I would call BS on that one. While I can understand the oil costs with the build a figure, Hasbro just got lazy on this wave because it really doesn't take all that much effort to just cut a hole between hands or knuckles to put in a few more joints.
Hercules is the only one that I didn't mind about since his fists are good for poses and the mace fits snuggly in between them. Hulk thankfully has them but Beast, Iron Man, Banshee and Emma are either going to chop the living crap out of a foe, slap someone or are going to make some Matrix style poses.
Beast
02-02-2007, 02:39 PM
Actually every point of articulation requires a seperate molding piece. So the more articulation a figure takes, the more expensive it is. Add to that the cost of oil, and you're pushing the production costs even more.

ehhh, I'm not that impressed by Hasbro yet by the first wave of Legends, and even the first Spiderman Origins wave. Why is everyone raving about Iron Spider-Man?
Anyway, I'm way more hyped about the toys that Marvel Toys (the company formally known as Toy Biz) is coming out with...

I'm glad that Black Bolt is finally getting released, but am a bit surprised that Firestar, Goblyn Queen, and Ord are seeing releases before Medusa, Silver Sable, Cannonball, Dazzler, Polaris, Enchantress, Nova (I and II), etc. At least the build-a-figures are shaping up nicely--I may have to actually save up just to be able to finally complete a build-a-figure. The Brood Queen looks very spiffy.

New X-Men Cyclops
Shi'ar Gladiator
AXM Colossus
Venom
Rogue
Orson Randall Iron Fist
New X-Men Emma Frost (Frank Quitely designed costume :))

There already is an AXM Colossus, Venom has been well represented in Spider-Man's line, and Rogue got a great figure in the X-Men line at the end of the year. And they've already done a BAF of Galactus.

I have never been interested in a Build-A-Figure yet. I think its because I don't think no matter who it is, I'll never be interested in completing an entire line just for it.
I'd much rather the characters come with accessories, even if its just a pot with a plant in it for Storm or an assortment of hats for Miss Molly Hayes. :)

LOL! Maybe I should have called it "Keep on Dreamin' Marvel Legends" line.
When did the AXM Colossus figure come out? If you're talking about the one and only Colossus figure that came out a long, LONG time ago, then it doesn't count...cuz I want another one :)
As for the Frank Quitely Emma Frost figure, it can be done...it just has to be something that the Hasbro needs to take an interest in. I mean, let's not kid ourselves, there's gonna be a Goblin Queen figure coming out and Goblin Queen's costume is just as skanky as Emma's was in NXM.
And I'm down for a BAF Juggernaut. The one Juggy figure that already came out wasn't that great.

Astonishing X-Men Colossus came out in the separate X-Men line which has more or less ML style poseability.

It's actually a pretty awesome figure, it's just that the availability of it sucked hard. Same with Phoenix and Deadpool, at least for me.

Whoah, I thought that they were going to do the older version but the fact that they went with the Avalonian armor is just AWESOME. Still I don't expect what we see here to be the final product, some of Hasbro's prototypes have looked way better than their actual figures.
The second Hasbro wave on the other hand just confirms my disappointment on the simplicity of some of their looks and paints.
She-Hulk: Doesn't have a torso swivel, hands don't articulate (slap syndrome). Hard to tell if there's an ankle joint but it seems to be there.
Juggernaut: Could care less about but it's not exactly a fantastic paint job.
Lord of Asgard Thor: Nice sculpt but simplistic paint.
Yellowjacket: Looks good, at least they gave him hand variety and some foot joints. Would have preferred the gold look the prototype had though.
X3 Jean: Looks kind of good actually.
Ultimate Wolverine: Somewhat decent, if anything he'll just add to the Ultimate Marvel Legends figures but the legs look wonky.
All in all, looks improved somewhat but until I see them firsthand they still leave alot to be desired.

I picked up the wave as well. I'm actually out of the Marvel Legends buying business, but I wanted to build Annihilus and obviously UIM and Herc had homes in my IM and Avengers collection.
The quality on these seems to be improved from past waves. I don't like the new packaging though. It's too flashy-glorified, and with all the uneeded art and extra printing and whatnot, the packaging probably really contributed to the increased price of these things. IMO, 10-12 bucks (after tax) a figure is NOT worth it. I'd be happier with the old school clamshell packaging and a comic pack in than the flashy packaging that just creates more waste. It seems I won't have to worry about it though, because to my knowledge there isn't any Iron Man related Legends stuff coming out for some time.

Earlier tonight, i clicked on the Wikipedia page for Marvel Legends- this is what they had down for Hasbro's fourth wave:
Wave 4 (Apple Pie series)
(subject to change; not officially announced yet)
Apples (first Appearance)
Apples) (varient / Golden Delicious)
Sugar
Salt
Butter
Flour
Cinnamon
Apple Pie(Build-a-Figure)
Measure the flour, sugar and salt together. Stir to combine.
Add the chilled butter pieces to the bowl. Cut them in with a pastry cutter or knife. Don't over mix them.
Mix until the dough holds together (add a bit more water, if necessary).
Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface, knead it together, then divide in half.
Flatten each half into a disk, wrap in saran wrap and chill for at least half an hour.
Roll out one of the disks on a lightly floured surface until you have a circle that's about 12 inches in diameter.
Put the circle in a 9" pie plate, trimming any extra dough from the edges with a sharp knife (parents only). Return it to the refrigerator until you are ready to make the pie.
Add filling (see below)
Roll out the second ball of dough and cover top. Use a fork or your fingers to pinch the edges together. cut a couple slits in the top.

I have mine displayed on top of my shelf. Two groups:
One group has all the Street Heroes,(Spidey, DD, Punisher and few others) and all the street villians such as Bulleye, Kingping and an army of Spidey villians.
The other group has the Masters of Evil and the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants charging up against the Avengers and Xmen. Very messy.

Yeah, people were split between Yellow and Metallic Gold. So they're doing the basic as yellow and the variant as metallic gold. Plus the Yellowjacket symbol appears to be different.

Yeah, I see this wave not really being a B-A-F centric wave. Why not Supreme Intelligence, Mephisto, Watcher, Thanos, or heck I'd even take Terminex, Mister Hyde or Ultimo over Hodge.
This entire wave doesn't really interest me. I'll be getting one of the Goblyn Queens, and Black Bolt. Too bad Corsair or Firestar aren't going to be made, at this point in the plans, after all.
Wave III has got me with the Brood though. Shameful, I was only going to get three of the eight before I saw the BAF.
But darn it...where is Polaris? I'm going to have to draft that letter to Hasbro.

I have news from Beast:
We've had the list of who's in Marvel Legends Series 3 for a while. But Hasbro premiered most of the figures from the wave at NYCC this weekend. I have to say, they're looking much better than the first two series. I can't wait to get them. And now with Cyclops, all we need is an Astonishing X-Men version of Beast to finish the team.
Marvel Legends III
Cyclops (Astonishing X-Men)
Danger
Black Knight
Marvel Girl (Rachel Grey)

Yeah it's the 90's H4H Avalonian armor. They perfectly got the Sword of Light and the Shield of Night too!
As for the rest of these, they're looking spiffy in prototype form but I just hope they don't f**k it up when it comes to actual release like they might be doing with Wave 2. I'm glad that we're getting some better articulation here such as in the hands on Cyclops so that figure looks good so far.
Rachel kind of worries me as the possible new Emma figure. She has a really nice sculpt but has weird articulation points such as the elbow joint/swivel Emma has and no knee joints. It kind of looks like they're experimenting with some new types of joints that make the figure look smoother and less segmented but it could really limit the poseability which could REALLY bring the figure down.
Danger and the Brood look pretty good though.

I'm a bit indifferent about the character (she didn't set my world on fire nor was she that bad of a villain). She's sort of a product of the sci fi aspects Morrison and Whedon seem to enjoy injecting into X-Men but I also like to get figures that can encompass a run like Whedon's Astonishing.
What I mean by that is you can pretty much get all the Astonishing figures when they have all been released and have them as tangible and cool reminders of a particular run from the comics.

To be fair, it isn't like Black Knight has ONLY wore that costume in the Heroes for Hire series during the Heroes Reborn era. He has worn it in every appearance since then, including the Avengers relaunch appearances Dane has made, his appearances in New Excalibur (save in New Excalibur he also has a cape attached to the shoulder pads at the back) most recently. It has been his costume for nearly 9 years.

Brood Queen looks really weird, but I guess that's probably intentional. Danger and Rachel are "OK" but this might end up being the first assortment in a while where I don't really care about completing the "build-a-figure."
And good lord, could that X3 Jean Grey figure be any more ugly? I mean seriously, Hasbro actually think kids and collectors alike will be interested in something that's both ugly -and- boring?

If they hadn't had Cerebro come to life and try to kill the X-Men just a few years before, it might have been pretty cool, granted (although still inexplicable why none of the dozen telepaths the X-Men have had never noticed it before). As it was, it was way too soon, and it made 2 plots in a row that had already been done during the Kelly/Seagle run (the "cure for mutancy" being the other one).
What I mean by that is you can pretty much get all the Astonishing figures when they have all been released and have them as tangible and cool reminders of a particular run from the comics.
No, I get it... I just personally don't have any interest in that. Cyclops' earlier costume is still his best so I'll stick with that, same for Wolverine with his brown costume. Though I did get the Emma Frost figure, as that's the only version we've got of her.

Hmm, the problem I have with the early Cyclops figure is the lack of poseability in the torso area and I've kind of wanted a recent costume figure as either the Morrison/Quitely New X-Men one or the Whedon/Cassaday costume

So far the selection is decent:
Galactus

Yeah Destroyer can be a real b*tch to find, I paid through the nose on that one. The FF3 Silver Surfer looks kind of weak though to be honest but The Reigning Thor looks good. I also wanted the Super Skrull figure myself but I figure Hasbro is going to break out some Annihilation related wave or boxed set. Here's hoping.

I'm wondering if anyone can help me out. I've recently begun purchasing Marvel figures, but I'm looking for a really really good Daredevil figure. All I've ever seen is the Affleck DD and DD in a two pack with the Kingpin; neither of which look good enough in my opinion. Can anyone recomend a good DD figure, and if possible, where I might aquire one?
EDIT: I've also seen a nice looking DD in a four-pack with Elektra, Spider-Man and the Punisher, but it's too expensive.

I wish they would have left the hair clear though. Instead of molding it in yellowish clear. Yes, I know Emma's been shown with it both ways. But the yellowish clear doesn't look that great on her.
Looks urine-ish.

I've seen that.
I might be willing to buy that box set and send you the Daredevil figure to a P.O box or something.
I'm not really interested in the D.D figure anyway...
It all depends if it's still available at my local toy shop.
Let me know through P.M if you're interested.

I like and have the Kingpin vs Daredevil Face-Off figure but Spider-Man classics has a good one too:

It wouldn't be on Wal-Mart's website. This is their computer system. Basically, often times someone who works at the store who collects the figures checks for them in the system, because often times new figures will be listed there before the info ever is released from Hasbro/Toy Biz. That's how we knew the ML Series 3 figures well before they were shown. So no pictures of them yet, I'm afraid. Just the listing.

So I'm looking at the She-Hulk fig, let's see: no double joints at the elbows (or any joints at the shoulders since it's all one piece), unforgivable non waist swivel and no hand joints. That's pretty crappy articulation if you ask me which is unfortunate since the sculpt is actually pretty good.
The rest, not too bad with Quicksilver and Hank Pym looking the best.
Beast
03-08-2007, 10:12 PM
She has shoulder articulation. Look closer. And her elbow is the new Sigma 6 one. Basically it's capable of turning and bending all in one piece. Hasbro prefers the style, especially for female figures.
Edit: Oh, you don't mean shoulder. You mean the joint where the shoulder and arm meet. Gotcha.

Bucky, Cyclops, Danger, old school Cap and even Marvel Girl look very good.
Black Knight and X3 Colossus however share the awful shoulder/bicep fusion and Dane especially gets stiffed for his articulation. They should have double jointed the knees, a wrist joint, and balled hips on BK.

As for the line mentioned above? Err it's a bit meh Bucky reminds me of a extra from Happy Days that said X-3 Colossus looks alright the Brood Queen is amazing though.
My dream line though would be (unless they've made these) would be
Agent X
Stardust
Novaforce Nova- Annihilation
Annihilation Drax
Gargan Venom
Ares
Ultimate Spider-Woman
Scarlet Spider
And the build a figure (proving this will only be a dream line up) would be Deadpool in his pimped out robot from his solo series.

I love these figures however im disapointed by the new Hasbro collections. With the Toybiz collections it was rare i didnt want one of the figures but with these Hasbro theres quite a few i dont want.
Series 1:
Banshee - looking pritty cool, dont really like the cloth wings.
Emma Frost - first time shes appeared as a figure but not to happy with it.
Hurcules - seems like theres something wrong with this one, not sure what though.
Planet hulk - excellent! one of the greatest marvel figures out there.
Ulitimate Iron Man - awful!
Movie beast - awful!
Series 2:
Asgard Thor - quite a nice figure, facial hair thor is best.
Movie Jean - awful!
Movie Jugger - decent figure but whats with these movie figures, there should be marvel movie figure line that is seperate from legends.
Quicksilver - decent.
She-hulk - first time she hulk legends figure so quite nice.
Ultimate wolverine - again only decent.
Xorn - good
Yellow jacket - i think this is the winner of the set.
Series 3:
Astonishing cyclops - nice figure, but not as good as toy-biz cyclops.
Black knight - very nice
Danger - not very good
HYDRA soldier - nice, good to have a HYDRA guy.
Movie colossus - awful
WW2 cap - dreadful, absolutly awful.
WW2 bucky - always wanted a bucky but this isnt too good.
Marvel girl - not too bad.
So i think i will be only getting a few of these, planet Hulk, Xorn, She-hulk, Yellow jacket, Black Knight, HYDRA soldier, maybe Bucky.
Whats your opinons on these Hasbro figs.

Some more information is leaking about these. And about the ML Spidey set.
The ML 6" Spider-Man set will be movie based. The BAF is supposedly the giant Sandman.
The figures in the ML 6" Spider-Man set will be as follows...
Spider-Man
Spider-Man (Black Costume)
Mary Jane
Green Goblin
Dr. Octopus
Hobgoblin (New Goblin)
Sandman
Venom
As for the ML 6" Fantastic Four line, they will be comic based.
Doom, Human Torch, and Silver Surfer will be scaled down versions of the upcoming Icons. The Thing is likewise a scaled down version of the unproduced Toy Biz Icons Thing. This is good news, given those figures.
Namor will be in his green Speedo. Which is likewise good news. The actual FF themselves may not be in the most popular costume choices. But since the source didn't reveal what they are, I don't know what it is. :)

Blob wave is, um...weighing down the pegs here finally.
Got Yellowjacket and Quicksilver, no sign of Jean Grey or She Hulk at either Wal-mart. No interest at all in Juggy, Wolvie, Xorn or Thor, although the last two really do look good and I may end up getting them. A friend with me said Xorn looked good and he didn't even know who the character was.
Quicksilver looks better I think than the preview pics, Yellowjacket looks okay but not as great...odd that. Posability is about what wave 1 was, which I expected, these were the two pre-planned, in before reviews, waves, so maybe wave 3 will be better.
YJ's left hand is in such an odd pose...a fist shaped...I'm sure some of the more sarcastic will say that's so he can hit on the Wasp figure. I wouldn't thou--oh, wait I just did. MY figures won't be doing that though, not cool.
The "Search for She-Hulk (Marvel legends style) part 1" begins!
Hrm. I still haven't seen a single figure from Hasbro's Wave 2. The only three I'm keen on are Quicksilver, Yellowjacket and She-Hulk. The movie figures are...blech.

Call me a geek but, I'm kinda pissed that you opened all your packages. I would never, ever, never, ever do anything that loony tunes. Cool collection though. Should've never opened em though. How old are you that you're still playing with your figures?? I thought that's what's kept me from opening the packages is because I just don't have the urge to play with them anymore. Now, if I was 6 years old I wouldn't have one single toy in the packaging.
lol well...whats the point in keeping them in the original packaging? People who do that have the collect for value mindset, not everyone who collects these figures thinks that way. Its not as if these figures LOOK good inside plastic. I have a ton of the figures, and I opened every single one so I could display them in my home to my liking. Its definetly not about playing with them.
I'm just personally not interested in owning something and keeping it sealed away to preserve some kind of presumed future value. And I guarantee nobody can convince me these figures look better in packaging.

100 years from now, they may be worth a couple of bucks, if that, whether they're in the package or not. 1000 years from now, they'll most likely have worn down to unrecognizable lumps of plastic, whether in the package or not. In neither instance will I care.
Today, they look awesome posed on my bookshelf, with Pro-Reg facing off against Anti-Reg. But only out of the package.

The X-Men don't have their own line. That's why they're seeding 1 or 2 X3 figures in each wave.
There was the short-lived X-men Classics line, but most of those were geared toward little kids (lots of action features).
There was a cool Rogue figure from that line, as well as a white-costumed Storm that was kind of nifty. That line also had the cat-face Beast in it, although he's dressed up in some kind of GI Joe night-raid outfit.

That was Toy Biz. Not Hasbro. The line was cancelled with the change over.
The only reason the line was started was to have some X-Men figures on the racks when X3 opened.
Most of the figures in the line sucked due to made-up costumes. Most stores didn't even bother to carry it. The best figures came in Series III, which saw scarce release due to the line being cancelled and change over.

Once again, cool collection. (Mines kicks yours ass though)
So, you're saying your way (packaged) is OK, but opening and posing them is not? That's pretty judgmental. And the other posters are right. These will hold absolutely, positively no value going forward. Except for a handful of varaiants, these are produced in such massive quantities that there will never be a scarcity.

Gotcha - I didn't realize you meant figures by hasbro - my bad.
The figures were pretty brutal (ninja wolverine with night vision goggles?).
Hasbro is missing the boat by doing movie versions rather than comic versions of these figures. I can't see many kids or collectors wanting the Fammke Jannsen (SP?) version of Jean Grey.

I don't play with mine (well... sometimes when I get bored during TV adverts) but I love posing them like he has his.
Infact, I just finished my shelves today so all my figures are back up again! It's been months.

Got a problem with opening up figures and playing with them? ;)

I opened a lot of mine. There's a few figures that I really like that I bought two copies of. Not because I'm gonna sell them any time soon, but I just like them that much. Characters who I've got two figures of:
Ultimate Captain America
Wolverine (brown & tan suit)
All my Angel action figures except Cordelia
I wish I had another copy of the original Colossus figure when it was released. That's gotta be the best looking figure, but the joints aren't strong enough to support such a heavy figure.
Does anyone else wish they'd release more pegged bases? I was stupid and got rid of all my bases except for a couple and now, a lot of my figures won't stand up on their own and I don't have bases to stand them up on.

Saw a ton of the Toys R' Us exclusive "Diamond Emma Frost" figures on the shelf today. Since we're generally the absolute last part of the country to get new waves in, I'm guessing they're pretty widespread by now. Sadly, no sign of the Blob wave.

I hate keeping figures in their packing, just makes me think you might aswell just look at them in the shop.
I just got planet hulk, wow, best marvel legends so far!
Not many others I want out of the hasbro waves however, will be getting yellow jacket, herc, lord thor, black knight and maybe the HYDRA dude. Dont like those movie figs, they should have their own collection.

Ditto. I haven't seen even a hint that these are available in Pennsylvania. TRU is probably waiting until the pegs are clear of the million silver wolverines before putting them out.

for some reason i have this strange desire to get the 12 inch iron man figure.
i don't know what i'd do with it or why exactly i want it but it looks cool.
i'm not paying $30.00 or so for it though, which is about the only price i see it at online.
is the thing still in stores? would it be any cheaper there?

Fans of the Superhero Squad are in for a treat. There's a collector's pack coming out featuring variant repaints of a bunch of the figures. Many of them ones people were hoping for. Like Dark Phoenix, 1st Appearance Daredevil, U.S. Agent, and War Machine, as well as several other costume variations. :)

Series 2 is only just starting to get out there in decent numbers.
I'd say Late July/August at the earliest. With Series IV in November/December.

If you've been considering ordering anything from Hasbro's online shop... they have a great deal going on right now. A 25% off code that also comes with free shipping. Code - FNFSPR7 :)
I snagged the whole Fantastic Four Superhero Squad series. I got all four for only $19.04. A pretty good deal, since I haven't been able to find them in stores. Hopefully there's no paint problems. :)

Here's the info and pics for the SDCC She-Hulk. She appears to have interchangable hands and feet so you can make her either Lawyer Shulkie or FF Shulkie. I have to say, it's pretty damn cool. She'll be $14.99 at the San Diego Comic Con. And hopefully she will be available from HasbroOnline. :)

High-powered Super Hero attorney Jennifer Walters hasn't always been a solo act. During one of Ben Grimm's extended absences from the Fantastic Four, she filled in as the First Family's heavy hitter. As part of the gang of four, she split her time between serving as legal counsel to her teammates and many of New York's other heroes, and trading blows with the likes of Doctor Doom and Terminus. She served with distinction as the longest-term replacement for any member of the Fantastic Four, and remains friends with all of them to this day. Her first duty, however, has always been to justice. Even during this busy time she kept up her legal practice and maintained her qualifications, and appeared in court as often as possible (when she wasn't captured by the Beyonder or crushing Doombots in Latveria). Ready for play or display, this She-Hulk figure is highly detailed. Add this HasbroToyShop exclusive to your collection by finding it at Comic-Con 2007!

Both look pretty good. I hope they tweak Magneto's helmet before he gets released. They really need to shrink this Mags down and release him in the Marvel Legends line at some point. A new good looking Magneto has been needed for a long time. :)
