I debated where to post this, and finally settled here, so please forgive me if I'm in the wrong place, and kindly redirect me if I am!
When I was a wee lass, I read a comic book that I've since had no success in identifying. I think of it now and then, and have googled a little, but I don't have a whole lot to go on. I hope someone here can help me out!!
I think I probably read it around 1990, give or take a year or two. It was about a guy and his anthropomorphic dog. I vividly remember one part of the comic centering around him and his dog being hungry, so they took some hamburger meat out of the freezer and were trying to pick pieces of foil out of it. The guy also referred to beer as "cheapo brew"--I remember that phrase because it was the first time I'd ever heard it.
There was another character that I believe was his landlady, whom he called either "Granny Gestapo" or "Gestapo Granny." She was a crazy old woman who wore combat boots, and possibly had a psycho cat (or more). I don't remember the name of the guy or of the dog, or really anything else about the comic. I want to say that the cover might have been blue, with both the guy and the dog on it. I have absolutely no idea if there were even any more issues made other than the one I read--I'm pretty sure that one was the first issue, though.
From what I remember (and this was a LONG time ago, so it's not much), the art reminds me of a cross between Peter Bagge's Hate and Mother Goose and Grimm (though possibly the latter just because of the dog).
Thanks for reading; I really hope I can someday figure this out, if only so that I'll stop wondering. Incidentally, if my little brother hadn't read it as well, I might think I'd imagined the whole thing!
