Issue #20 is the beginning of Moore's run, IMO the best Swamp Thing has ever been.

You'll probably hear that alot. :)

Defintely get them.

And see if your emotions don't get affected by some of the stories...

I see it being labeled under horror and such. Issit supposed to be scary or what?

I'd say it's more gothic horror. Very subtle.

For those interested, M'nagalah just showed up again in The All-New Atom #3.

hmm Vol1 is not saga of the Swamp thing, its the older 70s series Swamp Thing by Lein Wein and Wrightson (at least the 10 first issues)

I think he meant Volume 1 of the Saga trades.

But the Wrightson material is great, too.

You cannot go wrong with Moore Swamp Thing. And as far as the horror classification, "The Nukeface Papers" was one of the most disturbing storylines I remember reading. It takes a number of very deep-seated fears (contagion, the nuclear threat, etc.), and combines them. The last page is creepy as hell.

I would get the Moore Swamp Thing well before the Max Punisher stuff.

If you read absolutely nothing but the most genius, top-tier work first, though, you've nowhere to go but down.

ahh yeah, i suppose there's gotta be some sort of balance. but Punisher Max's not bad though. I kinda like it.

I love Punisher MAX, just as I love most of Ennis's work. I have the 1st Hardcover and the next 3 trades. It's great, great stuff.

But it's no Alan Moore Swamp Thing.

I just got the first one i think, In The Beginning. Starts a tad slow, but i believe the story will pick up in the coming episodes. It's pretty much got me all berserk tho. Punisher's a badass under Ennis's work.
