To read an X-MEN comic? I find myself finishing them in less than 5 minutes now :o
I've always been a quick reader though. Just curious as to how long it takes everyone else? Do you think you sometimes miss things on first reading, whether it be in the writing or art?

Also, how many times do you re-read your comics? I find myself digging up everything I own to find a specific one sometimes haha.
How many times have you read your ALL TIME FAVE comic would you guess? 100? 1000?! Discuss!

Hmmm, when I usually get a stack of new comics, I'll skim through most of them, and then reread them more thoroughly a couple days later.

But yeah, I've read and reread a lot of my tbps many times, and the same goes for issues that I particulary love. I always pick up on new things each time too. Like when I was a kid, I didn't get all the innuendos and things, such as Rogue and Gambit having sex back in Uncanny #348, but then I'll reread it and realize, "Wow, they're totally getting it on."

Most probably take under 5 minutes, perhaps even less for some of the writers that don't use a lot of dialogue such as Ellis.

I try and read everything at least twice. I sometimes miss things the first time around, plus I try and slow down and enjoy the art more the second time around. Also, sometimes I like to read a whole arc or miniseries in one sitting after it has concluded.

Not sure about my all-time favorite comic. I don't know that I've read a single issue more than like 10 times.

there aren't really words anymore. I miss that about comics a little. I do my best to NEVER skim, as i try to think of it as a movie i'm watching on TV that i've never seen before. THen i'll read panel to panel. MEaning i won't look at anything but the panel i'm on right now. My eyes won't jump. It really enables me to be surprised.

I do this more with new comics that have a story i'm really into. If it's an old issue that i know everything about, i'll be less anal about this.

I'll try to read it twice, sometimes in one sitting, because even with this method, i still read too fast.:D

Depends, years ago it took me ages, especially when first reading comics, and reading Earth X and understanding it took 30-40 minutes each book.

Now, books take me about 10 minutes at most to read, but I read them 3 or 5 times over.

I've never really thought about how long it takes me. I do know that I read today's comics a lot more quickly than the ones I read in the late 80's. And reading the Essentials takes me forever!

I do read most of my comics over and over. I go on a kick where I will want to read all of one title. So I'll read all my X-Men titles, or all my Teen Titans/New Titans stuff. I think next I'm going to read all my Justice League stuff from the Showcase collection up to the current series. It will be a lot of reading as I have everything from Giffen era and up, plus a lot of issues of the original series. Once I put every X-Title ever published in chronological order and read it. It took months, but was so worth it!

It depends. I usually skim my books, and then read them. It takes me way longer than 5 minutes to actually read the book. I usually take my time, check out the art as I go, and look for little characterization and plot quirks.

Reading single issues hundreds of times?!? Damn! I haven't read my favorite issues ever more than 4 or 5 times. There's too much stuff out there.

As for how long it takes me too read a comic, it depends. A lot of new stuff takes me between 5-10 minutes. But oldre Stan Lee-era stuff takes me 20-30 minutes. It depends a lot on the writer too. An issue of Alan Moore's Top 10 or Watchmen can take me 40-45 minutes to absorb all the detail. A Chris Claremont story can take me 20 minutes or so just because of thea amount of dialogue he writes. While some of the more action-oriented writers' books might only take me 5 minutes.

Whats this have to do with x-books?

When an arc finishes, I also like to re-read every issue of that arc in one sitting. It really gives a complete feel of the entire story

I changed the original post. X-books only :p

Claremont definitely takes longer to read because he's wordy as hell. Morrison took longer than average too I guess, I spent ages trying to figure out that 'Nuff said issue (awesome).

Just reading it is like skimming for me, which would take approximately five to ten minutes. But I like to explore the pages after reading the dialogue, looking for things in the art and reading into what is said (though most of the time I am just being overly analytical).

I do not recall me re-reading an issue over five times (other than for reference) but I do try to re-read most everything at least three times (twice when it is first out, and then again some time later for a retrospective/updated opinion).

It depends on the writer,it also depends on the plot. The only other factor is how cluttered the art work for the panels is.I usually finish a book in about 15 mins.Like novels i don't read them over an over I will read a finished arc over in its entirety to assimilate all the information from the story
