Looks like Johann is the short pack figure. They all look great and I'd love to get 'em all but will have to probably skip it.

I have not ordered from them before so can't vouch for them. As for the cheapest, I think this place might be a little less though I haven't ordered from them either.

I think you should easily be able to beat $60 for the set.

I know they updated the head for the Hellboy w/ heads exclusive. Does anyone know if that is the same head being used for the Hellboy in series 2 w/ the sculpted coat? I love the figures but I'm not going to double dip for hellboy until it is a radical change, such as Anung un Rama or something like that. I do kind of want one with a new head though. The previous head isn't bad (from the first series ) but an updated one would be good for my collection.

So I guess what I'm asking is if this head is a reuse of the second head sculpt or if this is in fact a third one.

Also, I really doubt these figures will be hard to find though. I saw some of the hellboy stuff sit for quite some time at Spencer's. The kriegaffe didn't but the rest weren't hard to find. These characters are more obscure this time around, aside from HB, so I don't imagine they will sell as well as they did in the first series.

Lastly, I am predicting now that we will be getting a clear Johann exclusive eventually. It seems way too obvious and we know they can do translucent plastic (Ghost of LoJo).

Unfortunately, the only one of this series i like is Johann. Roger is like Liz from the last series..nice, but not a must have

I know i'v said this before but I really dig this version of HB. He has this "oh, crap. it's going to expload again isn't it?". I adore his hopeless face! :D

I had no idea they were making an alien fig. Holy crap that thing is amazing. He will look nice next to my LoJo.

You know, the people over at Mezco swore up and down that Spring would have been a terrible time to release the figures and that The Fall would be the the much suitable date. Doesn't seem that way. I really hope this series does well enough. If it doesn't then we don't get Abe Sapien in Assortment 3, and the Hellboy comic figures will come to an end. I am quite upset with how Mezco is handling the license. The south Park figures just sit on shelves and collect dust yet they continue to produce them while the fate of Hellboy is on the bubble. Sigh, bloody idgeeits.

Even if this wave does tank I'm sure we'd get an Abe as a site or Con exclusive at some point. They know we want him and they held off to sweeten future waves of figures. I wouldn't worry too much.

The best way to ensure you get a series 3 is to buy as many of Hellboy series 2 as you want, or can.

I second this. Let Mezco know (via your hard earned dollars) that you want more Series by purchasing the existing series! :D

I think you guys are worrying much more than you need to. Plenty of toy lines sit for a long time and still keep coming out. The Star Wars line has certain figures sit for months (or years!) and it shows no signs of slowing down. I know it is a bit of an apples to oranges thing there though. I didn't see any evidence that series 1 did poorly. I haven't heard anything negative about the line so far so I don't think there is reason to worry. Also, I think what we need to worry about more than a series 3 is a series 4. Series 3 is likely already in the works with sculpting work done or at the least concept art and sketches. We saw the first hinted pictures for series 2 a LONG time ago so it stands to reason that the prep for series 3 has already begun. It is still possible retailers won't buy a third series and the action figure market is shrinking right now but I think the line has a lot going for it: awesome eye-catching packaging, an unusual style, a slightly larger size, and very unusual characters. Few collectibles out there right now are as weird as Hellboy, Roger, or Johann so even if you don't know what Hellboy is, and most people should by now (at least the name anyway), you'll still notice the figures independent of what they are for.

Also, I think the comparison to South Park is a little unfair. The show is often funny but as collectibles the figures are boring. The sculpts aren't detailed (because of the style of the show), there isn't much articulation, and they don't really do much besides stand there. I'd argue that the Hellboy figures are a bit more versatile and appealing to people in general. I'm not sure what the price is for the SP figures but I have a feeling that it is higher than it should be. I think comic book fans are likely to spend more anyway. Most of them buy their comics and collect some stuff now and then at the least so the figures are being marketed to people who probably spend a little on what they enjoy. SP is on TV. Yeah, people pay for cable, but besides that they don't go out of their way for the show, monetarily speaking.

Actually, my recommendation was based on comments made by the moderator of the Mezco forums. It's been implied that Mezco will be watching the sales of wave 2 very closely when determining whether to do wave 3.

You're right that the Family Guy and South Park lines are simpler and thus easier to produce, but the flip side of that is that Hellboy is probably (much) more expensive to make, with thinner profit margins. Thus, if Mezco is barely making or even losing money on the figures, it's just not good business to keep going.

I wish they would go the way of NECA and use profits from bigger, more popular merchandise, in order to keep the fan backed lines alive, sort of like Cult Classics. I wouldn't mind at all if the Hellboy figures became Mexco exclusives, but I guess that only pertains to figures that can be made using existing parts, much like the Warriors line, of which I own all of the figures.

Looking forward to these quite a lot, good to see Roger but where on earth is Abe? Not quite getting that, he being the 2nd major character in my opinion.
I just got a Hellboy from the series 1 in the post today, to supplement my Lobster Johnson from last week...awesome toys!
I'm afraid I'm going to have to control my urge to take them out and play with them, I'd hate to bust open the packaging. I'm 20 year old now, I'm not supposed to play with toys. Or read comics. Or paint toy soldiers.
Oh well:D
I like them in the packaging on my shelves anyway! I'm going to buy the 18" Hellboy next week too(student loan time).
I really hope to see a 3rd Series!
Chris
P.S. This is my first post, forum seems great!

A series 3 is the only way that we will see Doc Sapien

Regardless of a series 3 we will get Abe. He'll either be a regular release or he'll be a mezco/comicon exclusive.

Mezco has stated that the third wave will be:

Abe Sapien
Ghost Rasputin
Anung un Rama Hellboy
Frog Monster

I'm losing my stack over the thought of Abe and a couple of frog monsters... BPRD Playset, anyone?

Mezco's guys have said that if they do a fourth wave, it'll include Kroenen and 'some demons'. Can't wait.

I'm suprised they havent done many bad guys in the first two waves, along with Anung un Rama...I mean, theres been a fair few variants on Hellboy already, and with it being a memorable movie image, it could have sold pretty well...
I suppose there was already the movie version though, oh well!
I'll be trying to find me a kriegaffe and certainly pick up the 2nd wave, not sure whether or not to get Liz for complete-ness sakes, not keen on the figure at all.

I'd have thought Mezco would know about series 3 by now since all the orders for 2 would be in by now (including my pre-order from my FLCS back in the spring). Do they wait for re-orders or returns to before the final word?
