When did gideon die?
I'm refering to the year in real time.
Did the "highlander restraining order" happen before or after AOA. I thought it was before.

This belongs in the "questions" thread. And he died in 1996, I believe. Whichever year X-Force (1st Series) #52 was published in.

I had a Gideon toy when I was like 6. I had no idea who he was. Random!

What was the copyright infringement involved? Gideon was a character I never really read, but remember only from Fleer cards and other stuff.

The Externals, Gideon, Candra, Nicodemus, Krule, and the others were said to be ripoffs of Highlander.

In as much as they were seemingly immortal?
That's hardly an exclusive concept.

that they were a secretive clan of immortals who realized that they were immortal upon their first death and played various roles throughout history.

Is borderline copyright infringement...
Ah yes. I see.

I don't think externals are anymore a copyed idea then say the kheran characters of wildstorm.THey are to date imortal or living thousand of years an did things thru out history.SOme of them are even swords men yet highlanders franchaise owners haven't bothered them. Now if the externals were all carrying around swords an suppose to kill each other till thier was only one left for the prise then its definatly a rip off, thyere have been imortyals in so many genres an they have always played major roles in history I don't see why they got on marvels case so much

A new ongoing Highlander Comic Book series is just being launched, actually. So that might prove a problem...

Selene ate the externals!
It's always fun to see Selene munch crappy characters.
So are Selene, Apocalypse and Cannonball officially the last remaining externals?

Cannonball was retcon-ed out of being one. I'm not sure Apocalypse is either- he's not immortal. I could be wrong. Did Candra ever show up again after they blasted her gem?

I think now he's immortal just not an external. All of the benefits with none of the copyright issues. :D

I don't think the original posted mean which issue Gideon died. He meant when was his first death that he found out he was an immortal.
IIRC, Gideon was in the same voyage that Columbus was in. So he died around the 1490s from a vitamin C deficiany. Um...I cannot recall the dieases.
