I suppose this is technically a Paradox Press question, so if this is on the wrong board, my apologies in advance.
My question: Does anyone here know if Richard Piers Rayner lightbox-traced his art for this series? I think his stuff is unbelievable in its uncanny accuracy and attention to detail. Clearly, he relied heavily (some might argue too heavily) upon reference photos, as some of the characters have repeating shots, and many of the actual historical figures appear to be based on famous photos.
At times, the art makes you wonder if he "pulled a Greg Land" and just flat-out traced his stuff.
I really love his artwork, but some of the characters and expressions are so life-like they appear a little bit too "posed".
