Could somebody tell me what happened in secret war? I know Nick Fury disappeared & went underground (now helping cap's side). But what I wanna know is what made him leave?
Has he appeared in any books since?
Who or what made commander Hill acting head of S.H.I.E.L.D?
Does the goverment/S.H.I.E.L.D know Fury is helping the resistance? (I'm guessing no from what I've read in CW #1-3)

Thanks guys any help would be greatly appreciated!

He had the Secret War against Latveria, had the prime minister assasinated, used heroes then had them mind-wiped, and overthrew Latverian Government.
Commander Hill is the new SHIELD Leader because Fury had after him and the President picked her because he had an anti- hero agenda.:evilangry

If I went against the US government and assassinated a World Leader without UN or NATO sanction, I'd go underground too....

He went underground but is still secretly giving info to Cap and letting him use his safe houses.

Hopefully he gets caught and gets a kicking.

Only Anti-Reg I don't like, arrogant arsehole.

I cheered when Wolverine gutted him in Secret Wars and booed when it revealed to be some Life Decoy.

I do wonder how this whole Fury thing will turn out in the end.

Given all he's done, any result that gets him off the hook would be kind of a cop out. But at the same time, it would almost be weird to have apart from Fury indefinately. He's been so strongly associated with them for decades.

Fury is one of my favorite non powewred Heroes. To see him the premier SHEILD Director on the run like this is sad but he did do wrong. He should have handled Secret war differently.:( :(

Post Civil War, I wouldn't be suprised if he didn't get his own book. I'm assuming he's been busy the last few months he's been underground, so at least it'd make a nice mini.

Though perhaps simply showing up in the Cap book will be enough. He's been a pretty regular guest star there afterall.

I wonder if we will SEE Fury in the Civil War. I know he is feeding CAp info and letting him use his safe houses, but do you think he will make an appearance in the Civil War at all?

i think not seeing Fury is better.......

it gives the reader the impression he is 'everywhere'.......(he might just be;..with his LMD everywhere)

Secret War was a mess...total PIS...it was made just to force Fury underground.

Actually they did team-up sorta in MAX Punisher: Mother Russia. Pick it up, it was a great story.

it's okay......actually,

it's just that...like Ironman's own series.....it's LATE....

so everything is out of sync for a while....

that's why i am supporting delaying other tie ins together with Civil War......it prevent the 'out of sync' issue with past Marvel events.

The Spider-Woman ongoing that is coming in 2007 is apparently as close to being a SHIELD book as it could be. So I'm guessing Fury will have a role in it. Add to that the fact that New Avengers is supposed to be about the corrupted SHIELD (among other things), and whatever Cap's title might be about post-CW, I think we have a good chance of seeing a lot of Fury in the near future.

Since this Commander Hill is in charge of S.H.I.E.L.D. now, I'm curious has GW Bridge showed up? I mean he is in the higher up area of the government as he doesn't have to answer to anyone.

But I'm sure if the government were against Fury really. Wouldn't Bridge be the man to bring Fury in?

That's true... given Spider Womans situation, and how she's caught between Hydra and SHIELD, I imagine it will be something akin to being a SHIELD/Nick Fury book. He seems to be her only ally.

He used to have a comic called, " Nick Fury and His Howling Commands" , or something like that. It wasn't that good.:(

He also used to have his Strange Tales feature and Nick Fury: Agent of SHIELD both of which KICKED ASS.

Even those loyal to Fury like Agent 13 and Dum-Dum Dung is losing faith in SHIELD without Fury's grasp of control as seen in Captain America #22 ! :(

Apparently Bridge has left SHIELD, either that or he's just started to take mercenary jobs to pass the time or something.

Them's fighting words! Sgt. Fury and His Howling Commandos was classic World War II storytelling. John Severin's art was the first "recognizable" art I ever encountered as a child. It still gives me good feelings when I just look at those gritty, battle-splattered, heroic covers.

Indeed. With the immortal Jim Steranko breaking new ground with every issue. I was five feet from the guy at San Diego this year. I was such an intimidated dork I couldn't muster the words to tell him how powerful his art was to me when I was a kid rummaging through my dad's 1960's comics.

I would love to see Nick Fury go hand to hand with Agent Hill... That would be my dream issue.

But first, Hill would have to be like: "Where the hell is Nick Fury!!?" And then one of her generals would take off his helmet and be like: "Right here all along bitch!!" And then they would fight!! Yaah!

Where is Fury? Probably with Wally West:)

I found it ironic that Fury blew a cow with the F4 invading Latveria, which ended up in the death of Grimm. But in turn does what he does in Secret War.

Maybe there was a reason at the time, I havnt read Authoritative Action in awhile.
