So, I was browsing through Amazon, searching for some collection to buy (the don't have Grey's End, dammit) and decided o look for Mejanix and... HOLY SHIT!!

Look at the price:

It's out of print, has been for a while. So are the TPBs of X-Treme X-Men #1-#5. It's one of the rarest TPBs in the X-Treme line. It sells for around $100.00 on Ebay regularly.

It seems like someone insane, trying to boost the percieved value of the book so they can make more money on Ebay or something. No real reason otherwise to price it so high.

I luckily found one at a book store for retail, after it was going for $100.00. Great book.

There's a few recently discontinued TPBs that go for a lot.

New X-Men Vol. 2 HC - Sells for around 50-75.*
New X-Men Vol. 3 HC - Sells for around 100.00*
X-Treme X-Men: Invasion - $40.
X-Treme X-Men: Savage Land - $30.

* This is why I'm tempted to sell my 3 HC's and get the Omnibus instead. ;)

They really need to reprint Xtreme, Claremont's new stuff always seems to get comparatively neglected for reprints... hardcovers would be nice while they're at it (a la NXM or Ultimate), or maybe in an Omnibus?

Wow! That's amazing. When my LCS went under in January, they had every single issue in Mekanix in the 50-cent bins. I bought a 2nd complete set for kicks just 'cause I liked it so much (and the can't leave Kitty rotting in the clearance bin thing and all that).

I liked the story and all, but it certainly wasn't $100-for-the-trade good. :eek:

i have all of the original issues.
i thought that mekanix was some of claremont's better "recent" work.
it's nowhere near worth anything beyond the original cover price, though.

Savage Land was really awful.

I think Mekanix was fantastic.
