Why does it seem like they only kill off the ones with unique powers?

Recently we the characters that have died I have being to wonder why the ones with unique powers are the cannon fodder. Yet we still have a billion telepaths and many "lamed powered mutants" around.

Let me give you a list.

Darkstar- One of the few heros that access the darkforce. The only mutant to do so.(Maybe)

Wallflower- Phermone powers outside Stacey X and her own dad. Only one to ever show that set of powers.

Jesse Bedlam- Only mutant to be able shut down machinery.

Banshee- Outside his dauther only mutant with super sonic powers.


Now lets do the one that have been brought back to life

Northstar- not many out there with superspeed

Collossus- the only mutant that could turn to metal.



Seems like the ones with unique and different powers are the ones who bit the dust.

They were killed because they were expendable to the writers and not because of their powers.

It's more like, the popular characters are the ones that were created in the golden era, and since they were between the first mutants that were created they didn;t have anything too outlandish for powers... when mutants became a commodity, writers started using more of their imagination on the new characters, but newly established mutants never got popular enough to avoid being killed off....

shes psycho though, somehow she was one of the few who remembered house of M and it drove her nuts. shes very powerful and diverse, but what about her powers made her remember?

Nope the recently depowered Nightwind was a mutant who could access the darkforce. She was a member of the Rising Sons.

shes really cool, she can fly, shut off machines and electronics, she could go invisible, paralyze people, and shut off their powers, and she oddly enough she was a very dedicated member of toads brotherhood, when pyro was dying from the legacy virus she satyed by his side, even when exodus invited her to come join him. and in house of M she developed a new power where she could sense people's presence.

Peepers, Mammomax, Erg, and Kylun remaining powered is much worst than redundancy of power.

Woah, all this talk about Phantazia makes me oh-so-very happay... But yes, Carey is THE man. And Phantazia should KEEP HER OLD OUTFIT, thank you. I just KNOW that if they changed her look, they'd make her skanky like the majority of female villains.

And Hi-Fi, that's okay. I still wub you. Phantazia hasn't had much development, but I think it's the way she presents herself, her unique look, and the mysterious aura that surrounds her that makes her fans love her so dearly.

I don't see how anyone could say Northstar or Banshee have unique powers.

Speed-based Mutants other than Northstar: Aurora, Surge, Tempo, Quicksilver, Super Sabre, Timeshadow, Riptide

Voice-based Mutants other than Banshee: Siryn, Ruckus, Lorelei (though moreso a mutate), Rhapsody, Reeva Payge

That leaves Sunfire, Dragoness, Firestar, Fever Pitch, Thunderbird, and Magma (sort of). I say kill off Fever Pitch and Thunderbird and keep the other four around. I wouldn't say that's too much, seeing how you've got just as many telepathic, and super-strong characters around.

Sounds good to me, though I would not be bothered in the slightest if Magma joined those two as well. There are other repeat powers as well, I only used fire wielders as an exmaple.

Sidenote: I believe Rachel and Jean also have control over flame but this and my previous sentiments are neither here nor there.

lol Sorry I've just never been fond of the character, and from reading the message boards, I can see that a lot of other fans don't care for him either. It's just that he's so underdeveloped, and there's nothing much original about him (i.e. Powers, Codename, Personality) aside from being Indian. Maybe if CC had developed him more, instead of relegating him to rookie every issue of his appearance he would have been liked more. At this point I'm not too sure why he was saved during HoM, while we have other great characters like Cecilia Reyes who has yet to even be confirmed whether she is alive or not.

I do think it's sad that we don't have more Indian characters in the Marvel U. Neal on the other hand, is a big disappointment.

She was in TWO panels, thank you! :D The second right before the sentinel crashed down on the citadel, where she realized what was going to happen.

She was also in the background during a lot of the fight scenes. I think she battled Wolverine, but who can really tell since all the guards were wearing the same.

True, but she still does produce heat of some form. If you'll notice Thunderbird, Magma, and Sunfire aren't your typical pyrokinetics either. Each control/produce heat by different means. I was just including the fire/heat based mutants is all. Plus her name is FIREstar afterall.lol
