Okay, I just looked at the titles of the threads on the first couple of pages of this forum, and no one seems to have raised this subject before me. And I think this is the right forum on which to mention it, for the benefit of any Marvel fans who happen to be interested. (If I'm wrong about any of this, I assume that a Moderator will quietly merge this thread into another one, possibly on another forum. I'll grit my teeth and live with that if I have to, I say bravely.)
If you go to www.Marvel.com you will immediately see an ad for their new Message Boards. I clicked on the link to get there, and then experimented. I vaguely remembered that I was already a "registered member" of the Marvel.com website -- even though I've never done much of anything with it after I registered way back when -- so I typed in my name and password (same ones I use here on CBR) and quickly found I was now officially "logged in" as a member in good standing of Marvel's Message Boards, even though those Boards were nowhere in sight when I actually registered with Marvel.com several months ago. I mention this in case it will save other CBR members the trouble of trying to register all over again when they don't really need to! :)
I read the Board Rules. Nothing terribly surprising or unreasonable. I'm not allowed to post pornographic or gory images; I'm not allowed to impersonate Stan Lee; I'm not allowed to post tutorials on how you can collect lots of illegal downloads; I'm not allowed to verbally abuse other people by using offensive epithets referring to their presumed national, racial, cultural, etc., backgrounds and lifestyles. You get the general idea.
Fortunately, none of that requires I make any drastic changes in my normal habits before I can safely post things on Marvel's new boards. I recognize that some people may find those rules to be incredibly handicapping, however! ;)
