Whoah. Didn't see that coming.

The book opens at the Cube, where Maria Hill is talking to the Warden about the problems they're having apprehending the Runaways. The warden explains what she needs is a maggot...something to eat away at the problem...something that one of his "special projects" is perfectly capable of.

And then the warden introduces Hill to the sedated, captured Noh-Varr (from the 2000 Marvel Boy (http://www.marvunapp.com/Appendix/nohvarmb.htm) mini-series).

The rest of the issue is pretty standard. The Runaways and the Young Avengers continue to battle. They learn of Victor and the Vision's ties to Ultron. They learn they both have had "future murderours despot"s on their teams. They learn they both have aliens of Skrull heritage on their teams.
Molly makes Speed blow up rocks.

Then, en route to Los Angeles, the warden uploads a scent from one of the Cube's Skrull captives into Noh-Varr, then kicks him out of the plane. Noh-Varr crashes into downtown L.A., locates the Runaways and Young Avengers (Xavin has begun arguing with Hulking), and he apparently breaks Xavin's neck.

Good, fun issue. There's an obvious difference in attitude between the teams; whether that's a maturity or coastal thing, I don't know. But it's AWESOME to see Noh-Varr again, and to have his original mini finally cemented as having taken place in the MU proper.

and he apparently breaks Xavin's neck. Mwahahaha! Oh I wish that'd be the end oh him. But he's still in Runaways 19 (which takes place after this mini) so sadly, no, he's still around.

I did not know that was who the Kree was, I've never read that mini...so thats cool, I'll have to pick it up. I really like this series (CW: YA&R), I really like all the interaction between the two teams and especially like to see all the connections the teams have. Victor and Vision, Hulkling and Xavin and all that. I really enjoy the art also, pretty good stuff...

I never read Runaways before this crossover but I've got to say they're no where near as cool as the Young Avengers. :D

Anyway the issue was pretty cool. Great fight scene and the art was awesome. I never read Marvel Boy so I'm still in the dark about that part of the plot.

No it doesn't. Civil War: Young Avengers & Runaways takes place between #21 and #22.

Will be interesting to see how this works out. I mean Marvel Boy is a Kree from another dimension but cant see him getting along with a skrull. Kind of weird that we have a kree, skrull and skrull kree hybrid all in one book.

Still think it would be neat for a book coming out to star every character with Marvel in there name.
Marvel boy- atlas
Marvel boy- Marvel Knights
Marvel boy- justice
Ms. Marvel-Sharon
Ms. Marvel- Carol
Marvel boy- Quasar
Captain Marvel-as a ghost
Captain Marvel- genis
Captain Marvel-Photon
Marvel Girl- jean
Marvel Girl- Rachel
Marvel girl-Valeria

I'd buy this in a sec lol

You forgot the re-animated corpse of Marvel Girl, Jean Grey!

No it doesn't. The mini takes place after Dead Means Dead. According to BKV, anyway. That is why Chase is back on the team. He leaves at the end of issue 18.

I never read Marvel Boy so I'm still in the dark about that part of the plot.I included a link in my initial post to a page that summarizes his mini, for those interested.

Well, we no matter when this mini takes place, we know that Xavin's still around because BKV would never let one of his own creations be killed off by another writer.

you can't break a skrull's neck, anyways. heck, a skrull that was appearing in the most recent issue of Marvel Team-Up had someone punch through his chest and he just walked it off. he wasn't even a super-skrull.

Didn't I read somewhere that Grant Morrison threatened to sue Marvel if they used Marvel Boy without him?

Or am I just imagining that?

I don't recall reading that.

Anyway, enjoyed the issue soley for Noh-Varr and seeing the groups finally interact. Now the question is wether he'll become the new Captain Marvel and where he will go after this but I do have the first 4 issues of the Marvel Boy book and it's killing me that I can't find #5 and 6 right now. I'd even buy the TPB but unfortunately it's out of print so one just hopes they that put it back into circulation.

I also liked the connections all of the members were making towards each other yet their differences are also apparent with the Runaways keeping up their usual anti-adult/superhero stance and with the Young Avengers embracing the whole legacy aspect. The only thing that sliiiightly bugged me was Molly since she seemed a bit too easily amused by Speed and acted slightly more naive than usual but there was still the funny banter between the two. I have a feeling that come next issue Noh-Varr and Tommy are going to be confused a bit given that both have white hair and can travel at supers speeds on top of their white and green costumes.

So far

No it doesn't. Civil War: Young Avengers & Runaways takes place between #21 and #22. Oops. I looked into and, yeah, you're right. *smacks the person who told me differnet*. I did wonder though, because of Chase being in CW: R&YA.
