so I just finally read the 198 series( I know way late, but I found someone who had the whol set on ebay and got it) anyways lookiong though the 198 files it kind of made me depressed knowing that there are only this many mutants left I mean there are still a lot of heros and villians that aren't mutants that are cool, but I liked when the marvel universe had all sorts of cool mutants. It's just weird that for years and years all these mutants were around and there were a bunch of comics some big some not so good dealing with mutants and now there are only so many titles to choose from now and even with those titles the cool battles between new mutants won't be happening like no more Avengers vs death man the mutant from some country who want's to take over the world(just some made up mutant cheesey but you get the point) O well just thought I would let off a little steam

I am sure that sooner or later the majority of those mutants will get their powers back. My favorite (Iceman) was depowered for a bit but got his back. Eventually the right story wil fall into place and you will see some of these mutants reactivated.

I've been curious. Does The 198 show all of mutants or just the ones staying at the mansion?

Personally I like that they massivly reduced the size of themutant population. Morrison had several million mutants and kept introducing new ones... it was crazy.
The whole idea of mutants was that they were different and thus oppressed because society feared them. With millions of mutants they novelty isn't quite there and neither is one of the original concepts, and arguably the most important one.

I haven't seen or read any of it.
In the Xmen:Civil War mini (2 issues of 4 are out) the 198 are "kidnapped" or "Rescued" (depending on who you believe in) from their internment/hosting at the X-men/Xavier's mansion/HQ.
How Domino and Shatterstar could evacuate 198 so quickly in front of Sentinels is beyond me!

I agree that there were too many mutants but I liked having a lot of them maybe not millions but you'd have to expect many more to pop up every now and then it just seems the ones that are left are second rate if you get my gist.

Closed. Rule #10.
Also, posts on this topic would probably fit better on the X-Men board.
