C'mon , where's the star wars holiday special ? That's the best star wars film ever !! See Princess Leia sing offkey , see the wookie hugging Han Solo , see Luke Skywalker put on more makeup than Princess Leia . Priceless !

Empire is the best film in the series, in my opinion. But it's actually not my favorite. The very first Star Wars movie will always be my favorite because it introduced me to that world and those characters.

Episode IV is by far my favorite and I think the best film of the series. I like that it can stand alone.

Empire Strikes Back, since it wasn't written by Lucas, he only supervised it.

Empire Strikes Back is the best. That's it.

A New Hope gets a close second from me and then it goes III, I, VI, and II.

Even worse; someone picked II!

I guess someone out there thinks Anakin does great pickup lines.

This is going to sound corny and stupid, but each trilogy is like one big movie to me.

The old me would have said Empire, but after gaining a significant amount of understanding for the artform, I just can't justify calling one movie "the best".

However, my all time favorite moment in Star Wars was the Battle of Hoth. Imperial walkers bitotch.

I also picked Empire Strikes Back. It's my favorite, followed extremely closely by A New Hope. Great movies, both of those.

In defense of "The Phantom Menance", it is my favorite of the prequels. Liam Nieson carried that movie greatly and after he is killed, the prequels dive in quality badly. What's more, Jake Lloyd was better at playing Anakin than Haydenson.

Or at least he gave pick-up lines better. :D

"Star Wars", the first movie will always be (for me) the best. All the other movies are just riding on its coattails.

Empire Strikes Back!

Whenever I have kids, and force them to wash all of the Star Wars films in one sitting, I'm going to have them watch 4,5, then 1,2,3, and then 6, cause c'mone, wouldnt that be great for a kid, not knowing that that shocking secret was going to be revealed in the end instead of knowing from the beginning!

But yeah, Empire is great, Revenge of the Sith seems to have the most sense that there's a lot more universe out there then the first trilogy seemed to show, and Return of the Jedi, Jabba could have been better I think (he should have spoken english) and ewoks: they're okay, but....I mean....c'mon....why them, but the end with the emperor and vader getting unmasked: great (lightsaber battle could've been better)

Pretty much with majority here...Empire is the best.

Then...

New Hope
Sith
Clones
Jedi
Menace

IV and V are the only ones in the running. I picked Empire.

I do think Phantom Menace is a tad underrated in fandom. It's definitely better than Clones. You just have to ignore the occasional bottomlessly stupid scene, and the rest of it is pretty good. Whereas Clones is just kind of meh from start to finish with one cool Yoda fight scene to break the monotony.

Empire Strikes Back. I credit it to Leigh Brackett and Irvin Kershner.

Even worse; someone picked II!

No Even worse 5 count 'em 5 people have voted for Revenge Of The Sith. Really that is the worse. The whole plot was obvious from the beginning, it was therefore very tedious.

The correct order is

Empire Strikes Back
A New Hope
Attack Of The Clones
The Phantom Menace
Return Of The Jedi
Revenge Of The Sith

I mean C'mon I and II are more underrated than Mallrats....

A New Hope gets my vote because its the one that started it all and it hooked me in just never got the same buzz from the others.

A New Hope (even though I hate the name it was given) is far and away the best since it was the original and was the only one that didn't delve too much into cute silly creatures which is what pretty much hurts the rest. Yoda appears in Empire and it only gets worse in Jedi with the Ewoks and lets not even talk about Jar Jar and the rest of the travesties in the second trilogy.

There's nothing in Jedi as bad as "NOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooo!!!"

Nothing.

Edit: I correct myself. "Jedi Rocks" is probably as bad. But I meant the real Return of the Jedi.

Been reading most of the post and I have to say that if anybody liked Sith then I would respect their opinion about that instead of getting into a tantrum over who liked a particular SW movie that you dont like. Eventhough

I am not a big fan of Star Wars yet I wouldn't see a point in acting smug towards the prequals. That would just give the non-Star Wars fans a bad name if I do.

Empire Strikes back is one of my favorites. Mostly because of the fight between Luke and Darth Vader was well done than the one in Jedi. Nothing against Jedi but that fight seemed lackluster since both individuals were holding back during the final confrontation.

For me it goes:

#1. Empire Strikes Back
#2. New Hope
#3. Return of the Jedi
#4. The Phantom Menace
#5. Revenge Of The Sith
#6. Attack of the Clones

It wasn't really a tantrum.
