I've been watching UFC for a few months and just now discovered pride, I'm curious though as to which league is considered superior? Do fighters from one league migrate to another? Whats the consensus?

Try the All-Purpose MMA thread.

Me, I gotta go with Pride fighting. It just seems much more fast paced. Less rolling around on the floor hugging.

I know theres alot of althletic skill that goes into grappling, but honestly, it just isnt that entertaining to me.

Pride has always had better fighters, because they pay more.

PRIDE, the overall competition is better. Better fighters and I love the skill level over there. Better pay plus less recognition except to the Japanese crowds and they treat their celebrities better! I also think its more prestigious. If and I mean big IF, i ever get that good it would be a dream to compete there.

I'm completely lost in this thread. The only things "pride" means to me are:

A) a group of lions.

B) annual political/bachanalian gay celebrations.

Even the responses only added confusion. Can you give SOME frame of reference?

Really? I usually see lots more grappling in Pride but, admittedly, I don't watch much MMA (mostly for that reason).

it's pretty obvious,
PRIDE...it's a fight organization way better than UFC, WWE, or anyone else. It's about fighting...MMA is the new boxing....tell your agent.

Sure.

PRIDE FC is a Mixed Martial Arts orginization based in Japan. It's known not only for it's world calibre fighters (from collegate to even Olympic champions), but also it's flamboyant entrances and pro-wrestling-like gravitas when promoting matches. The way it differs from the UFC is that while the highest prioity of UFC is safety, it hinders it's martial artists from truly using the skills that they have trained to use. PRIDE has not only created a better safety system, this system allows more fluid fighting as well as allowing the martial artist free and capable range in his/her technique.

And all styles are welcome. Be you boxer, wrestler, sumo or even pro-wrestler. All you need to do is walk into that ring.

What's UFC? All I can think of is "Un-Fried Chicken," and I know that can't be right! ;)

I see MMA video makers have as bad taste in music as wrestling MV makers.

Pride>UFC

Better Fighters
Better Production Values
Better Showmanship
Better Rules and Fight Format

And the biggest difference is the Japanese people are much better fans than thier American counterparts. They NEVER disrespect fighters in any way and they also understand the groundgame as much as the standup.

No matter if the fight is good or bad they always cheer each fighters efforts and show them respect. The same cannot be said about a UFC event where 50% of the the crowd is booing fighters out of the ring.

You really can't judge from that video. The MMA video community is possibly the most musically open group out there.
