It is impressive in one way, because unlike the majority of people I've seen make lists on this board you seem aware that movies without "Star Wars" in the title existed before 1989.

I can't believe you put Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit at #222. It should be at least #143.

Nice list. I glanced through most of it, and I'd definitely include most of those on my list of favorites.

I once made a list of about 300 movies I would consider "favorites." I might have to dig it out.

My only issues: ESB is the best of the star wars trilogy and ROTK is the best of the LOTR.
Sin City before Reservoir Dogs and scarface? come on.
and where the hell is blow, american history X, and casino?
The nutty professor before Harvey, are you joking?
wheres the jungle book?

Geeze, i guess my list would be alot different than yours, my favorite movie is at 69.

BTW:You know we have a good group of posters here, when no one just out right flames him for this titanic list.

i think after 50, then you're pretty much listing every movie you ever saw...i mean there are movies i've seen and i've totally forgotten...then there are the few that will stick w/ me forever.

Depends how many movies you've seen I think. I could pretty easily make a list of my 300 favorite movies. But I own close to 2500 movies and have probably watched somewhere around 5000 in the last 7 or 8 years.

I'm on my way to 300 movies this year! I've seen 12 since last friday (although 3, I'd seen before), in the cinema, not counting DVD. I don't even want to consider having to sit down for a 300 list!

If you haven't seen very many movies, then you're right. If you've seen several thousand, 300 is pretty reasonable for a "favorites" list. I could easily rattle off a few hundred movies that I love.

dude, i've seen so many, i've lost count...i think in order to define "favorite" they have to be films that you could never live w/o ever seeing ever again...i doubt "batman & robin" falls into that catagory...i mean i've seen a lot of movies that i really liked and may occassion want to see again if the mood strikes, but as far as absolute favorite??...35, 40 tops...and that's pushing it.

Um... No, Batman and Robin doesn't fall into that category, because I wouldn't consider it a favorite. What does that have to do with anything?

I just find it funny that your're saying 35, 40 tops is the max for what you could consider favorites. I mean, The American Film Institute did a list of the 100 greatest movie's of all time; It's silly to think that only the top 40 are legit choices...

If you only have 35-40 favorites, good for you. But I could easily rattle off several hundred films that I absolutely love, so I don't see how you can argue that.

I've also seen a few thousand, and I agree with Aggie. 300 is nothing but a laundry list. It doesn't have an real meaning, because it's too big to keep track of, and ranking them becomes impossible.

i only mentioned batman & robin because i think it was among the 300 movies listed...as for the AFI, that's complete different...scholars can play that game because they have the resources to research the topic...i'd bet my buffy collection the average person has not seen every single film listed.

i made my list based soley on the fact that i watch these movies more than a few times.compared to other films i like that i watch maybe only a few times.for example i like sleepaway camp but i don't like it enough to put it in my top luist of films.because after the big reveal it kinda lost its impact to me.another i didn't add was dawn of the dead i like this movie but i find myself watching it less and less over the years.ever so often things fall off my top list and gets replaced by another film.

i made my list based soley on the fact that i watch these movies more than a few times.compared to other films i like that i watch maybe only a few times.for example i like sleepaway camp but i don't like it enough to put it in my top luist of films.because after the big reveal it kinda lost its impact to me.another i didn't add was dawn of the dead i like this movie but i find myself watching it less and less over the years.ever so often things fall off my top list and gets replaced by another film.

i can dig that...the cool thing about a list this long is that you can get a sense of the types of movies other people like...that's the thing i find most interesting...but i just feel like...and this is solely my opinion...a list like this one is illogical...and i don't mean that to be disparaging or because i'm being an asshole...it seriously just doesn't make sense to me.

like kung-fu movies and pro-wrestling, b-monster movies are rites of passage...these are the staples that informed my childhood so for that reason alone, i love them...i'm not hatin' on your list, just saying 300 is still a big number...;)
