Basically while flicking through the channels the other day, we came across Shanghi Noon. And it got us started on the discussion "Which Superhero is most like Owen Wilson."
And in the end we thought he was most like Booster Gold. And that started a train of thought in my mind. If you did get Wilson as Booster Gold, could you not then go and make a Frat Pack Superhero movie? And thinking about it, the idea seemed to have merit. The recent discussion about a "Green Lantern movie as a comedy" made me realise that it's a genre that could really support getting a bunch of comedians to play superhero. Mystery Men was good, but I think we could do with going all the way and taken established heroes to use as the base for a good comedy.
Say you took the Giffen Humour Justice League as a starting point.
You'd get Christan Bale as the perfectly straight-guy Batman.
Then you could get Owen Wilson as Booster Gold and Vince Vaughen as Blue Beetle.
I think Will Farrell (as best seen in Elf and sort of Anchorman) has the big Childness to play Captain Marvel.
Ben Stiller I think would have the stuff to play the greatest Green Lantern of them all, Guy Gardner.
And lastly for completest sake, you get Christine Taylor to be Black Canary.
So comments/complaints? (Sorry the post is so rough, but I haven't had much sleep and I want to get this posted.)
