I see a lot of posts like this in the CBR forum, and I wish I knew how to post a kind of sticky thread post to tell people here about a forum of independent artists looking for work. You can check us out at:

About 20 artists regularly post work there and take work on commission. I guess the question is, how serious are you about your project? Prices vary for each artist's work; some may take work on contingency but you'd have to make arrangements on that. Good luck!
