Anyone looking forward to Jason Statham's new movie "Crank"? I think it has potential to be great, goofy fun. Here's the premise (from imdb.com):
"A hit man (Statham) learns that a poison injected into his body will kill him if his heart rate drops slows a certain point. Now he must exact his revenge on the people who injected him before he takes his last breath."
It's like "Speed" but he is the bus! :p

That's exactly what I told my girlfriend when I saw the commercial. :p
I don't know. I like Jason Statham in pretty much everything he's been in (though I never saw "Cellular" :p), and I known this movie will be nothing but two hours of unbridled, unnecessary, high-paced action. When it comes out, I'll probably go see it, but I won't expect anything great, just entertaining.

I'm sure I'll go see it. I'm also sure it's not going to be a great film, but it'll be an ideal way to check out and enjoy stuff being chased and blown up for a couple hours. I can't wait!!!

Judging from the commercials, it's essentially a modern-day take on "DOA", the minor noir film about a man who is dying of a slow-acting poison, and has twenty-four hours to solve his own murder. I'll wait for the DVD.

I belong to the Science Fiction, Fantasy, & Horror Academy (the people who put on the Satrun Awards), and we tried to get a screening of Crank, and the studio said, "NO!" I take that as a "This film sucks so much, we don't want anyone to find out, before they've bought a ticket!"

Why not just call it "The Transporter 3," in which he must transport HIMSELF. Pretty existential, eh?
This movie will be good if, in the end, he really dies, or better, decides to LIVE with the drug (with temporary cures so he can actually sleep). A neatly packaged "I'm all better and I get the girl" conclusion after a high-paced two hours will be like a McDonald's sundae after a Ruth Chris steak.

I don't know about the rest of you but I lay in bed at night wondering why I couldn't have been named a name like
Chev Chelios
Man, what I could do if only I had that kind of name!

Is it really unnecessary is the poor guy is going to die if there isn't a good action sequence to speed up his heart? :D

The ultimate boys movie. Absolutely NOT for the girls. Lots of fun, though.

Lots of cool visuals. Some neat action sequences. Kind of evil and soulless, though.

Oh yeah. Chelios was definitely a psychopath - every bit as evil as his enemies. I don't think we were ever supposed to see him as a "good guy." I especially liked the way this film didn't shy away from showing the carnage among innocent bystanders, who Chelios would mow down without a second thought.
And boy was his girlfriend dumb.

Yeah. That bothered me. I'm anti-evil. Hard for me to get behind any fictional story that isn't at least somewhat enlightening and hopeful.
And boy was his girlfriend dumb.
But I think we were supposed to be sympathetic to him 'cause he loved her.
Which was the MOST annoything thing in the movie. You have this dude who's 98% evil but somewhat redeemed cause he's in love with an idiot. Blech.

I loved it, after the past several years of appologetic action movies finnally one that just wants to kick ass. Nothing but unfiltered asskickery. It was great.

One of those magical movie thing where you can drive one the sidewalk at 90 mile per hour and not kill people
Good movie though

It's a cartoon, from first to last, which is why HE never killed an innocent bystander, but I'm not sure about a cop. He is a hitman though, so a certain amount of moral ambiguity is acceptable from the start.
