Wait a minute! Does Ninja Kris know this? Do you think Bree told her girlfriend yet? And hey, wait a minute, if Bree isn't a lesbian, maybe I'm not a lesbian. I must check this out.

Whew! Emily seems convinced that I am gay. That is such a relief. I wouldn't want to be straight. Not being attracted to guys would really make being stright unpleasant.

Yeah, I mean, Emily and I discussed whether I was a lesbian very shortly after the first time we made love. This is the sort of thing you need to ask pretty early in the relationship. How could you let it go this long? That's just irresponsible.

I told my then girlfriend I was gay on our fourth date. You've waited much to long for this conversation, Kris.

I got asked last week. I wrote about it on my blog. Afterwards, I thought it was funny.

It had more to do with me being "formal" in my manners. You can read it here (http://heystacy.blogspot.com/2006/08/too-proper-to-be-black.html), if anybody is interested.

LOL. People sometimes put too much emphasis on what they percieve (personal biases and stereotypes) than what is the truth.

Kittens rock. Romantic movies are ok. I agree, Pink is a horrid color.

As irritating as that should have been to deal with, I found myself laughing. She was used to dealing with a certian (stereo)type of men.

Keeping a person guessing isn't my style, but I admit the tension was interesting (and blog worthy).

I'd have laughed too. The thing is when I read that I imagined that you work with alot of ignorant white people and when she said that they'd all think "Oh lord, if he isn't gay he's gonna call his homies and kill us all".

And, yes, I see the irony in me making assumptions given the topic that inspired such assumptions.

LOL I deal with a lot of misconceptions at work, but that was the one that cracked a smile on my face. Working for an art school, being an artist, and being a minority is quite a combonation. Its all fodder for my art.

No. Being a guy myself, it's hard enough putting up with all the smells, eruptions and secretions and, of course, the random but apparently chronic dumbing down as blood flows away from the brain to...other parts. You fellas know what I'm talking about.

Then there's all that hair. Dear God, when will the growing stop?!

I think using a gun is cheating. Understand why she carries it, though. Don't blame her. I've taught her some unarmed defense moves. She catches on quick.

Our mutual friends have noted our common interests in weapons. Learning about firearms from Breebree. Bree has learned some taekwondo.

"Ninja Kris" was a nickname from Bree. Also "Kristin Beyond". Early in the relationship, Bree asked if I could copy the moves in the "Batman Beyond" opening credits.

Whiterose. I knew I was gay when I played with Barbies. Only used the girls to play house.

This is going to be one of those stories that you SHOULDN'T share with typotot.

Which brings up an interesting discussion Emily and I were having regarding our daughter. When will be an appropriate time to tell her that we're lesbians? I mean, do we wait until she's a teenager, or do we tell her when she's like four or five? If we don't tell her early on, what if she figures it out on her own? Will it cause an identity crisis?

It's quite the dilemma.

Yes, but as a parent, you want to give her every opportunity.

We're started Tot young.

A few days ago, before day camp ended, Daphna and I were in Payless buying her a new pair of shoes because she outgrew all of her old ones. At the end of the aisle they had some clogs hanging on a rack and the moment Daphna saw them she says, "Oh! CROCS! Those are CROCS, Mommy!!!" She asked if I would buy her a pair and I told her, "No, if you are going to get a pair, you're not getting knock-offs."

Now, I have heard of Crocs; I have seen them advertised in magazines with the cute little porcupine baby stuffed in them, but I had no idea that my five-year-old daughter knew what they were. I asked her how she knew about Crocs (I thought maybe from all those times she sat on the toilet, reading my In Style) and she says to me with a "duh, you're such a dumbass" tone, "Chaya Eisenberg in my class has them!!!! Like I should know who this child is, especially because she is the owner of the almighty Crocs.

For the past few weeks, Daphna has talked about nothing but those Crocs. We saw them on the feet of Dunkin Donuts patrons, in magazines, and of course, on the feet of Chaya Eisenberg. Two weeks ago I bought myself a pair at Whole Foods when I realized I had worn my slip-ons every day and they stunk to high heaven - I could even smell the stench with my feet under my desk. Amazing that I bought a pair of shoes on the recommendation of my five-year old daughter.

I brought the Crocs home so I could wear them up in the mountains this past weekend, and I thought Daphna was going to pass out when she saw them. She was so excited she kept trying them on and clomping around the house. Today I took her to the sprinkler at Madison Square Park and I think more than half of the kids AND parents were wearing Crocs. Daphna of course had to comment on them and again ask me if I would buy her a pair. I told her that I couldn't really justify spending $30.00 on a pair of shoes that she will be able to wear for only about a month before the weather changes.

But then about 5 hours later, I guess I could justify spending $30.00 on a pair because I ordered her some pink ones online - this was after we got home and she started telling Mordechai all about them. I'm such a sucker. But she really wanted them. And now she will be as cool as Chaya.

But if Chaya shows up at school with an Ipod, though, we are going to have to talk.

Yeah. It was a joke. That is a pretty good book, by the way.

Obviously she's going to see that she has two mommies and we'll need to talk about that before she starts school to make sure she knows that it's ok to have a family that's different and that some other kids might not understand and help her deal with that.

The adoption counselor we talked to suggests treating it like the adoption, and talk about it when she asks, or if she doesn't, around the age of 4-5 depending on her maturity. Given the number of picture books she'll have been read with families of all types in them, including a good number of gay and lesbian picture books, she'll have experienced by then, I think she'll be fine with it.

It's not much different from the race thing. The counselor has had quite a bit of experience with parents in cross-race adoptions, usually white couples who've adopted an Asian (usually Korean) or black baby. We're her first Asian couple with a white baby. The interesting thing she shared was that we might have to bring it up on our own if we want her to know, despite the race thing, because adopted infants grow up assuming that whatever their family structure is is normal. They often don't recognize that they're a different ethnicity from their parents until someone else says something or asks about it, so it's best to talk about it early.

Plus, there are the books. I have a good collection of books with families of all shapes and colors and gender combinations, including about 20 gay and lesbian ones. And by golly, if there aren't any transgender themed children's picture books, I may have to write one and have my sister-in-law illustrate it and have a private binder print one copy so that she'll have at least one of those.

Not sure how to handle the trans thing right now other than that we won't lie to her about it. That's definitely something to work through with a counselor, I'd think.

Heh. I remember when I was first going to therapy, sitting in the waiting room waiting for my therapist each trip. There was a lesbian couple, both very butch, walking stereotypes basically, with a daughter seeing one of the other therapists and she always seemed so happy to be there.

Awww. And here i was also thinking Lucky! =)

Artist: Britney Spears
Album: Oops... I Did It Again
Title: Lucky (Sabrina Fox Edit)

This is a story about a girl named Bree...

Early morning, she wakes up
Knock, knock, knock on the door
It's time for makeup, perfect smile
It's you they're all waiting for
They go…
"Isn't Bree lovely, this California girl?"
And they say…

Bree's so lucky, Bree's a star
But Bree cries, cries, cries in her lonely heart, thinking
If there's nothing missing in my life
Then why do these tears come at night

Lost in an image, in a dream
But there's no one there to wake her up
And the world is spinning, and Bree keeps on winning
But tell me what happens when it stops?
They go…
"Isn't Bree lovely, this California girl?"
And they say…

Bree's so lucky, Bree's a star
But Bree cries, cries, cries in her lonely heart, thinking
If there's nothing missing in my life
Then why do these tears come at night

I come to you from my deathbed. It's taking all my energy just to type...

Actually, it's been really crazy around home at the moment. Been a kinda family tragedy.

I wonder if I should dye my hair red?

And suddenly I feel fine. Many stirrings of...life. Yay!

Tell me, you happen to wear glasses by any chance?

Pfffrt 'Highly'? It's the beer no one in Oz would drink in our right mind, but we like to make foreign countries think we do in order to get rid of it all and keep the good stuff for ourselves.

I do have glasses, but only wear them at night when the contacts come off.

Kris has vetoed the redhead idea. I'll see if I can work on it. I may haveta get a tatoo for her to let me dye my hair.

I'll be leaving for my on-call three-day shift soon. Hope you'll miss me.

Dammit Kris! You ruin my fun! What do you mean you'll have to get a tattoo to dye your hair? Isn't that a little...permanent? As opposed to hair-dying?

Speaking of tattoos, I'm getting mine finalised in the next few weeks hopefully. Guess what I'm getting!

And of course we'll miss you! I always miss my Domination partner!

She is perfect as a blonde. Blondes are hot. Redheads are okay, blondes so much better.

I think tattoos are hot. Breebree doesn't like the idea of tattoos. So if I can't get a tattoo, she can't be a redhead.

Okay. When she gets back, we'll discuss temporary tattoos and hair coloring. I'm open to compromise.

I could never get a tattoo. That's a bit more body alteration than I'd be comfortable with.

Emily didn't even like it when I dyed my hair black. She said it looks off, flat, compared to my natural dark brown, and loves the natural white streak I have.

Just got her call. Passed some kind of test from her superiors. Didn't understand what she said. She used medical jargon to explain what happened. Lost me about four words in.

Says she'll go for a temporary tattoo. Guess she'll go red too.

Think she'll look hot as a redhead.
