so... a few questions regarding Wildcats here...

why is Skywatch on the cover, when it doesn't exist anymore??

why is Jack Marlowe back in his stupid spandex body condom?

why is Grifter back in his oversized trenchcoat and enormous gloves phase?

exactly WHAT is so "expiremental" about Jim Lee's art style on this book so far?? it looks exactly the same as most everything else he has done over the past 5 years or so

It's a brand-new Skywatch. That or the issue somehow involves time travel.

why is Jack Marlowe back in his stupid spandex body condom?

Because poor Jack was suplemented by the 2.0 version of Spartan, I guess. I mean, if the most recent interviews are any indication, I get a bad feeling that Jack will be positioned as a villain with one of the 2.0-era back-ups positioned as a hero.

why is Grifter back in his oversized trenchcoat and enormous gloves phase?

Because Jim Lee likes the stupid trenchcoat and gloves, I guess.

Personally, I am fine with the trenchcoat if it looks more like a mundane trenchcoat then Gambit-style trenchcoat he originally sported. That and if he uses less often. Gloves, on the other hand... no. Just no.

Different panel layout? Less posing? I don't know. We haven't seen the interiors yet, so who are we to judge.

Personally, I would really like to see the painted style he used in Batman:Hush and some of his stand-alone paintings used somewhere in Wildcats. IMNSHO, it's miles above his regular stuff.

Doesn't Jack start selling Spartan robots to the public. I heard that was an idea they were exploring.

According to Christos, there is no Skywatch... and he should know, he's writing StormWatch

*hangs head*... if this is true, they're already losing me as a reader... I really REALLY want to like this boook too...

Crap... no... the only way that grifter actually looked RIGHT during the whole series was when Dustin or Charest was drawing them.... the giant bulky trenchcoat, big gloves... other lame crap... that was so stupid...

and if they give him back his VADs, I'm out... point blank... I'm gone...

Lets hope, cause his cover art so far hasn't been ANY different than his previous style

From what I understand, he simply meant that the newest incarnation of Stormwatch won't be using Skywatch as a base of operations. Nothing I've seen indicates that Skywatch II (the one that wound up in the sun) won't be appearing anywhere in WSU.

I am currently listening to a Wildstorm-related podcast from the official site, and Morrison mentioned something about the bizzare sunspot-related activity going on at in WSU. As you well know, Skywatch II wound up in the sun, along with poor Winter. Makes you think, no ;)

I know, mate. Believe me, I know. I share your feelings on the matter wholeheartedly.

See above.

Actually, that part I wouldn't mind. I mean, I don't want him using them all the time, but when faced with Authority-level opponents, packing extra fire-power demonstrates a measure of prudance.

Lets hope, cause his cover art so far hasn't been ANY different than his previous style

Once again, we are in total agreement.

I think that both of us have the same fears and apprehensions. We don't want to see WSU dumped down for the sake of greater marketablity, stripped of anything that made it progressive and unique. We don't want to see all the stupid crap that plagues DC and Marvel multiverses. And we want the new run to respect what came before. All things considering, I don't think our position is that unreasonable ;)
