This is my pick to be th sleeper hit of the Summer. Pathfinder (http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/pathfinder.html;_ylt=As92T4XgypfhqNgGu7UT6wFfVXcA)

The plot in a nutshell....Viking vs. Native in the style of Frazetta.

Check It Out.

Karl Urban ? Yawnzzz ...that guy doesn't have a lot of screen charisma , The Rock easily outshines him in Doom. Him as the native rambo has no interest for me. :p

I liked Urban in the LOTR movies. Lots of presence, really intense.

Sorry , who was he again in LOTR ?
Urban is better off in Hercules and Xena playing Julius Caesar. Campy and hokey is what he does best and he's not even that good in the role. :D

Yeah, I have not got the whole Karl Urban thing yet. He was passable in LoTR in a part I liked in the books, but felt was sacraficed a bit in the movie.

He was downright boring in Doom, The Chronicles of Riddick (though his rat tail was funny), and the Bourne Supremecy (did anyone think he would even come close to terrorizing Matt Damon in that one....I mean, it isn't like you have to try hard to be tougher than Matt Damon.) His best part so far was his like 8 minutes of screen time in that movie Ghost Ship. GHOST SHIP people.

That being said, I think this movie has had a GREAT, GREAT, GREAT, GREAT trailer. I'm all for Viking movies, hell I even liked the 13th Warrior. This is most definetly in my top 5 movies I want to see this summer. And hell, Clancy Brown is in it, so I'm there.

I saw the trailer before Clerks II last night. Looks pretty cool visually although I'm not too sure on the plot. Any thoughts?

To echo the sentiment on the IMDb boards, this film will either rule or fall short of its mark. Action in spades, no doubt. It's up to how its plotted and scripted. At worst, maybe this will be a cult classic (arguably speaking) like Clan Of The Cave Bear or Ator, The Fighting Eagle (okay, not the latter!). I've been waiting for another period "epic" focusing on the more distant past as opposed to a film set within the last 500 years. I'd prefer sword & sorcery but for now I'll settle for just the "sword" part of the equation. Fingers crossed.

The movie is not ture but is based on a true finding Vikings that had made it here in the Us before Christopher Columbus and may or may not have fight with the Native Americans. You know Vikings vs Native Americans. I think the findings where somewhere up in Canada. But I have vary little info on this.

Dances with Vikings.

Okay, it's been said, now we can all move on.

I thought Urban was quite good in LOTR and Riddick. He sucked in Doom, but so did everything around him. I don't know if he has the charisma to carry an action film by himself, but bear in mind, until a few weeks ago, Gerard Butler's biggest role was as the Phantom of the freakin' Opera.

At least he looks like a more plausible ass-kicker than Tom Cruise.

Yeah, but the fight choreography in that courtyard scene of the Last Samurai was pretty sweet.

I thought that to then I saw that Russell Means was in it.

Russell Means began an acting career in 1992, appearing as the title character in Last of the Mohicans. He made subsequent appearances in Natural Born Killers and Into the West, as well as a voice actor in Pocahontas as the title character's father, Chief Powhatan. In 1997, Means published an autobiography, Where White Men Fear to Tread.

Might be a payday for him but if you know his history, he won't let anybody make Native People look bad.

looks kinda interesting. except I would prefer an all out NA v. Vikings. Not sure how much, historically they came across each other, but they probably did. I just don't know how much they would have remembered from each other. From what I recall, most of the early NA on the East coast were friendly but the Vikings were savage rapists and looters (esp. with england).

Thats what I want to expect in this movie. A full blown NA vs Vikings war involving both sides getting into the mix instead of the Chosen White Guy killing all the Vikings and saves the Indians.

Here's my thoughts....

I have been seeing the trailer in the theaters since late last year [October/November]. Quite funny is that a few weeks ago it popped up as a trailer in front of one of my movies and if you listen at the end and watch it states the release date is January 2007.

My date on my computer right now states April 6 2007. A few months after January 2007. Makes me wonder...
