View Full Version : Calling on artists! I need help on a present for Shades0077

OK. I commissioned a friend of mine to do a comic styled poster for me and Shades 1 year anniversary.

I told her my idea and sent her lots of pictures to work with and paid her up front because I know she needed money and I needed this super awesome gift to give to Sean.

She gave me a sketch 2 weeks ago and she said the final piece would be done by the 19th and I haven't heard from her since! I've called and emailed etc and got no reply. Our anniversary is this Sunday and I wanted it ready so I could have had it printed and framed for him by Sunday and now I have nothing for him :(

So this is where I need your help! He loves you guys here and I know there are super talented comic artists on this board so if you could, would you be able to finish the art piece where my friend failed to?

I can pay you, not much, preferrably under $50 because I already spent that much on the last attempt. And I need it by Sunday. I know it is short notice, but if you have the time and want to help me out and make this anniversary amazing, that would be wonderful!

Give me about 2 weeks and good reference and I'll do a full color print on a disc you can take to Kinko's and blow up to poster size. It'll be tough for me to do it during the week but I can get to it over a weekend or two. You won't get it in time for your anniversary but you'll have something you won't be ashamed to hang on your wall.

My only conditions are I lay out the page the way I want to and you don't see get to see it until I'm done or decide to show it to you and if I take more than 2 weeks you don't complain. After I decide I'm done I'll show you a jpeg and if you want it you send me 50 bucks and if you don't like it you don't buy it.

Down side is I'd probably only be able to work on it this saturday. Up side is I live in a different timezone, so even if I finish at 2am, it'd still only be 7pm on the US east coast. I'd need reference pictures of the both of you, and can put the finished version on a server for you to download (put it on a cd, take it to Kinko's, etc.)

I got a few responses here and some from my personal blog from some friends who offered to do it for me for free out of the kindess of their hearts- and to brush up on their art skills!

So that means Shades will have 2 or 3 pieces of comicy-lovey-art goodness for our anniversary, that lucky s.o.b.!

I got a few responses here and some from my personal blog from some friends who offered to do it for me for free out of the kindess of their hearts- and to brush up on their art skills!

So that means Shades will have 2 or 3 pieces of comicy-lovey-art goodness for our anniversary, that lucky s.o.b.!

I'm working on it - I had to shoot some hand reference, because I really forgot how to draw them. I hope to have it ready on Thursday night.

It doesn't have to be like the sketch. You can do anything in your own style! You can turn us into a comic book couple like Emma Frost and Cyclops or Gambit and Rogue etc etc.

Follow up!

My friend came through after all. She apologized over and over again and explained that she was very sick then she worked on it nonstop yesterday into today and I got this in my email this afternoon:

Shades is one of those people that always wears a hat, isn't he. I can tell. He probably a big sport radio fan as well.

Actually, the only time I listen to sports radio is if I can't catch the Flyers or Eagles game on TV.

And I don't always wear a hat. I take it off when I sleep.

I will add you then. I changed it last night because the internet sucks sometimes and was using my pictures as something to make fun of on a community. Eh. Now I'm 14 on myspace.
