I'm not a fan of any of his movies, but if forced to pick I guess I'd go with FALLEN.

I'd say his best performance was TRAINING DAY. The movie itself wasn't anything special, but in my mind Denzel will forever be his character from that movie.

I loved John Q., Remember the Titans, and Malcolm X

I can't vote because I don't like any of his movies that I've seen. He is a fine actor but he seems to act in nothing but mediocre, run-of-the-mill thrillers - and if there's one genre that bores me to tears, it's the thriller. Ironic, ain't it?

i'm not trying to be an asshole or anything, but i am curious as to why you would post on this particular thread if you don't like any of his movies

Man, it's a tough choice between Training Day, Glory, and Man on Fire. All three are really great movies. I would say I would give the slight edge to Training Day as my favorite.

I think he's a talented actor.

Ditto. I just find it curious that all the projects he chooses are so uniformally (again, from what I've seen) mediocre.

Check out John Q, it was widely over-looked. Unfortunately like most movies that ask a serrious question, people forgot about it soon as the credits rolled. Look at Bullworth, if anyone even remebers it. What Bullworth tried to do for polotics John Q attempted to do for health care.

I'm gonna go with Manchurian Candidate, for a re-make that film was excellent. In fact, everything Denzel touches seems to turn to gold, as of lately. WHat were his last few: Man On Fire, Inside Man, Manchurian, Training Day.......all awesome performances.

Malcom X is simply an amazing film. Certainly both Washingtons and Lee's best picture.

GLORY and MALCOLM X are my favorite of his movies. Even in lesser films, Denzel usually gives a very good performance.

i would say the majority, but not all...malcom x, glory, and insideman aren't mediocre by any stretch of the imagination...but i do question choices like the preacher's wife and mo' better blues...i think he's a solid actor, i'm not a big fan...i see him on screen and i still see "denzel" as oppose to the character he plays.

Definitely going to go with Glory. Absolutely a great epic tale and great film overall. But there are other Denzel films that are worth watching (at least I enjoy):
- Cry Freedom: Steven Biko's lament... great film
- The Mighty Quinn
- A Soldier's Story (one of his overlooked roles...great in that one as well)
- Courage Under Fire
- Crimson Tide
- Mississippi Masala
- Mo' Better Blues (unsung Spike Lee film)
- The Seige

I go with Training Day as well. It made him a great villain and I honest to god think he deserved the Oscar for it.

Part of me wanted to pull up Aries Spears as Denzel doing his fun speeches his character goes on. I wanted when he went to the cable store. :p

I'm glad you pointed this one out. I thought this was a great movie where he played more of a tragic villain. Unlike Training Day where he was just a straight a-hole. He's got at least 10 movies I like, but my favorite would have to be GLORY.

It's a good film. He's just done a lot of good films, many better than that one.

Great post. I was going to mention A Soildiers Story and Mississippi Masala. His performance in Mo' Betta Blues is definitely underrated.
