Or atleast that's what scientist seem to think.
"TORONTO (AFP) - US boys hooked on gospel, techno and pop are more at risk of HIV infection than devotees of other musical styles, including "bling, bling" hip hop, according to a new study."

Reverse research involves jumping to a conclusion first and then looking for supporting evidence. Thanks for the example, Zombie. Here's another one.
The majority of inmates on death row ate mashed potatos instead of any other kind of potato product as a side dish from the age 10-20. Therefore, we can conclude that mashed potatos cause violent feelings in people.

Oh no, I like mashed potatos. I'm doomed for death row.

I've heard a study where marijuana use is linked to people sitting around and getting high.

Not so sure about that. The study found that those more into gospel, techno, and pop were more at risk of HIV than those into "bling-bling" hip-hop, which is kind of counterintuitive when you look at the heavily sexualized lyrics and imagery associated with such hip-hop, and compare it to, well...gospel. Moreover, the men they interviewed said that the scantily clad women in submissive roles in many hip-hop videos supposedly had a real impact of their lives. If the study was operating as you claimed it was, the more likely conclusion would be that hip-hop listeners are at greater risk for HIV infection. In fact there actual observation was this...
"Boys who listened to hip hop had more sex and more partners, but it did not impact condom use," said Munoz-Laboy. "Those who are part of religious culture or the club scene used condoms inconsistently."
...which doesn't fully explain why condom use varies among those cultures, but it definitely doesn't seem that they were playing according to stereotype.

I love random correlations.
Did you know that people who own poodles are nine times more likely to part thier hair on the left? It's true! Would I lie to you?

“Oh, people can come up with statistics to prove anything. 14% of people know that.”

Stephen J Gould's book, mismeasure of man has a really good simplified section on factor analysis (chap 6 IIRC). It explains why the math in correlations like this doesn't work.

It's the mashing. It brings out the vilolent tendencies.
Now I didn't bother to click the link because I don't need to waste my 5 minuites of life and become dumber for the reading of that story but I can assume from the lack of "Country" from the initial post I am safe from getting HIV.

There's also an inverse temporal corelation between the value of the dollar and the distance to the Andromeda Galaxy.
That is, over time, one gets smaller and one gets bigger.
