I'm sure they must. But when I go to Blockbuster, I see these things lying on the shelf and I wonder who actually wants to see guys like Wesley Snipes blow things up on a small budget when they don't even want to see it on the big screen.

well i imagine that they've usually got a smaller production budget to begin with and they also really don't have to worry about the costs of marketing a film for a big screen release which, from what i've come to understand from many of the SUPERMAN RETURNS threads, can be considerable.

there's also the thought that for less of an investment in time and money people might be more willing to give a movie a chance on the rental shelves then they would in the theatres.

also, these movies might do much better in the international markets where sensibilities and expectations are different and Arnold does energy drink commercials.

pretty much, and i would add to that, its staggering the amount of people who have the CPAPPIEST taste in movies. who would LOVE to see Vvivica fox and Jean Claude Van damme in a movie together. or somthing like that

If the copies make it to the video store, the studio's already been paid for them, regardless of whether or not anyone rents them.

The low budgets is a factor as well. If Roger Corman were working today, he'd be the king of Direct-To-Video.

Well, you can, but cannibalism is frowned upon by polite society.

OMG, I would totally rent a movie if they were in it together!

Renting is cheaper than seeing it at a theatre--especially with all these specials going on these days. Because it's a low budget movie, you don't need to see it on a big screen. There are some crazy movie rental people who watch everything.

What do you mean if? He's still making movies today.

Headith thee to thine establishment of rental and hie thee a copy of "Hard Corps" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0462329/)
