What's Barry's deal?

Hey. I'm not really a big Flash guy in general (Though I do like Wally, in large part due to JLU, and have been following the new Flash book so far.), but this question has just sort of been nagging at me lately, and am hoping someone here can explain. Basically, Barry Allen died during Crisis on Infinite Earths, right? And as far as I've been able to determine (And by all means, correct me if I'm under a mistaken impression.), no one except the group that retreated to the extra-dimensional paradise...and I guess Psycho Pirate remembered COIE until recently. And yet, people still remember Barry, and he's still dead. So how did everyone remember him dying? What happened there?

Everybody remembers Crisis on Infinite Earths, including Barry dying. They just remember it differently. They all remember the Anti-Monitor was trying to blow up the universe, and they don't remember squat about the multiverse (except the JSA recently).

Didn't people in the DCU remeber Supergirl too. Remember that she died during the crisis but then later she didn't exist?

Nobody remembers Supergirl, from pre-Crisis. Otherwise they'd be thinking the last 3 were frauds.

They remember upon prompting, but won't otherwise stumble upon it by themselves. Power Girl didn't regain her true memories until she touched the Earth-Two Lois on the hand. Wildcat didn't remember until he saw Kal-L *and* was verbally prompted by Power Girl. The surviving JSAers remembered the Golden Age Batman when the Thunderbolt summoned his ghost (but not before then). Donna Troy remembered everything via Harbinger's golden globe.

Memories of the existence of the original Supergirl have not yet been addressed aside from what Donna remembers. It'd be interesting to see if today's Superman would "remember" the original Kara at all from his previous existence as the Pre-COIE Earth-One Superman.
