Some more light reading for you.
Many say that he's sort of a Marvel Batman rip-off. And to some extent they're right if you just look at the initial start (rich guy experiences a trauma that motivates him to be a vigilante without anything in the way of real super powers). But he grew in a different direction from there, and became a unique (and IMHO enjoyable) character.
Welcome to the world of Moon Knight. He's one of my top 10 all-time favorite characters...so I hope that you too come to enjoy him. :D

But only the first series by his creator Moench was good, i think the second series was very watered down and boring.

moonknight's first appr. and origin was in werewolf by night #32 & 33
a group of high level money men [the committee]wanted to capture and control the werewolf to use him in controlling the stock market.
the idea was to let the werewolf loose when people started to think all was ok and not spending too much money, thinking that a scared public is a spending public, they hired merc. mark spector and gave him his moon knight costume and weapons to use in capturing the werewolf for them, after spector saw what these people wanted and did to the werewolf he had a change of heart and helpled free the werewolf and beat the committee.
spector let the werewolf flee afterwards and he kept the costume and name
moon knight [that he originally thought was a stupid name] and became a super-hero.
note: he was liked so much that his origin was revamped and he starred in a few issues of one story books before getting his own series.
i like this new run because it ties in with the old committee and the werewolf by night so i'm interested in seeing how this plays out!:evilsmile

I agree, but I think Moon Knight: The Fist of Khonshu was a pretty good representation of the character. Marc Spector: Moon Knight took the character in a superficial, cliche direction, though the first ten or so issues I really enjoyed.

I was gonna pick it up if only for Finch's artwork. Does MoonKnight interact at all with any other Marvel heroes?

he's going up against taskmaster right now, so i'd say yes and because this is the committee's kids that are after him now i do believe we'll see a werewolf by night appr. too!
i sure hope so!!

If I want to read bad Spawn spin-offs I'll re-read

It was equally bad but at least it had something of a plot and way more dialogue. I'm way beyond the time to spend money on artbooks (which is too bad since I like Finch's pencils on MK).
I think I'll be back when a new writer comes on board,

I think he lost so much when they decided to lose his 3 alias, he really was scitzo in Moench run and that made him intresting.
Marc Spector was to me just a standard superhero book, Dixons work was no good, he didn' understand the character at all.
And MK being in Avengers West Coast was stupid.
The current MK comic seems to pay attention to the original run, something thet should have been done long ago.
To bad Moench didn't wrote the character more, i think he had a lot more stories to tell, but he quit when Shooter wanted him to kill MK and replace him with a ninja based character, that made Moench walk and the title only lasted 2 more issues that was only a mere shadow of the older issues.
I don't like MK being around the other heroes to much, Spider-man now and then is ok but no teams, he should be on his own doing what he thinks is right, following no orders and act a lot more voilent than the goody two shoes heroes.

Aside from which, the Shroud was Marvel's more blatant Batman ripoff- rich kid sees his parents gunned down in a mugging at the age of 10, so dedicates his life to warring on crime. It... it seems familiar somehow, but I just can't place it...

But Shroud is Blind i think, and have some kind if power like Daredevils radar.
Pretty cool character i think but he is not much used, he met MK in Avenger WC.
MK is based on Batman yes, even Moench stated this, but the original series was so much more, far away from Batman, i think the Marc Spector run made him just a cheap Batman clone.

I agree with that also. MK works so much better when he's not around the other heroes and, also, when he's not dealing with major super-villains. I always enjoyed it when MK took on the more human villains than the super-human.

Well, they are launching a new Blade series soon, perhaps a crossover is in order? I think THAT would kick ass!

So I read the newest Moon Knight issue and there was no mention of Marc Spector's brother, who became a serial killer in one of the Hulk Magazine stories Moon Knight had before gaining his own title.
Has that been retconned away, even though it's a good story?

I think Moon Knight works well with other heroes, as long as they're more "street-level" (Daredevil, Spidey, etc). And I liked when he was in West Coast Avengers.

Since Moonknight in a way resembles batman but differently, is the new on going series good? I like the artwork and it's nice and gritty but is the rest awesome? Like Daredevil mixed with batman awesome?

i think thats a good description. mk is sort of a poor man's batman and daredevil. or at least he was. they seem to be playing up the mercenary aspects of his background more. that's fine, i just hope they don't end up making him like the punisher but with a costume.
personally i liked him better without the knoshu factor, but i will wait and see where they are going with him this time.

Bah Moonknight makes Batman look like the Pants Wearing Pussy he is.
Batman should do to Joker what MK did to Bushie.

I agree, MK is cooler than Batman.
Well, considering that the Joker got shot in the face and Batman threw his corpse in a dumpster (Batman #655, last months issue), he's worm food for now. Who knows how long it will last, but whatever.

Everyone states that MoonKnight is a bat ripoff to atleast some degree and that his creator made him to be a bat knockoff, I would like to know where everyone hears this. In Moonies first appearance he's a Werewolf hunter, who uses silver based weapons, and the cresents on him are supposed to have some power towards the werewolves he hunts. It wasn't until his retcon with his series that he became anything like bat's really. Shroud is more like bat's than moonie. I'm not saying that he's not a bat ripoff by his creators admission, I'd just like to hear it from the horses mouth and not a DCipedia (aka Wikipedia) source. Ever notice in that thing how every Marvel character is based on a DC character in that thing, but when a DC character is based on a Marvel character and gets called on it DC fans get all up in arms to get whole sections of story removed?
