Hey, I don't know if you have all read or been reading Year one written by cbr poster Spiderspawn but let me tell you. It is histaricle. Insiteful, quippy It's the stuff great parodies are made of. Joey Q needs to sine these guys up. forget marvel adventures, forget the power pact year one is one of the most brilliant series I have seen.
Focusing mainly on Lil Spidey, this online comic takes the characters we know and love and makes us love them all over again. All the while making a biting commentary on the status of comics today.
While I don't always agree with his stance. and some of the running jokes get a little old. thank God he got rid of Speed Ball. He always makes me laugh. Plus the art is fantastic. They are all so cute even punisher and doom they are just so great.
If i had one complaint it would be that they aren't in color enough. Seriously visit his site and send letters to mr. q as much as possible get this guy his own book. I would like to make t-shirts if he lets me. it might help get the word out :D

Hell I love Year One.
Check my avatar and my sig. :p
I even have a few commisions and original strips.
But I have to correct you, the CBR user that does them is Melike, spiderspawn is his hoster.
It really is awesome to see a fun and funny parody of the marvel universe. It would be great to see more people reading it.

Just for those not in the know, Year One is a webcomic that parodies Marvel with younger versions of their characters that is set in a schoolyard.
You can find Year One here (http://yearone.spiderspawn.com/index.php).
The most recent comic is this one featuring the characters from Nextwave...

I too have been a faithful reader of Year One since Dingo brought it to my attention some time ago. Keep up the great work melike2!
And send me free stuff. Heh...I actually have a box of free stuff going to a certain member of this website that won a contest I was running a while ago. And I will send it when 2 things happen. I actively think about it on my way out and when it has been a while and becomes a surprise...heeheeheehee. :D

I've loved this strip for a long time, but I fell waaay behind. I'm catching up now.
I have to say, the stuff you put Speedball through is so hilariously depressing. I laughed, I cried. I did more crying than laughing. Seriously. Poor guy.

Those strips were written by my esteemed collaborator Jess Harrold so i can't take credit for those. Poor Speedball - i do love him so. heh - that is a cool strip incidentally.
Thanks Doom Hammer..

I chuckled for a couple minutes with that one. It's so outrageously, hilariously sad. Poor guy. Honestly, I hope he comes out of Civil War okay and redeemed. But that's a different conversation.
Keep up the good work. Do you provide the art chores? Cartooning that consistently is a really difficult thing, it's really great work.

I do everything. For a while - about Sep-Mar i think, I wrote about 1 strip a week or so and Jess would do the rest, and i just drew them. But i'm back to writing everything myself now ..

I'm very jealous of your webcomic. Mainly I wish I had thought of doing it first. But the worst thing is, I don't think I could be as consecutively funny as you are. Good job.

Hey, im about the third to do something like this :)
I emailed Chris G of Mini-Marvels a while back to check he didnt wan to murder me or anything ( i hadnt heard of the strip before) but he was cool with it.
BUt anyway, yeah, thanks a lot - its been really fun to do. I just wish i could get more people on board with it - i've kind of levelled off with readers in the last few months..

I remember when Marvel had the Bullpen Bits or something to that effect. But it was short lived and didn't keep up with Marvel events. Still funny stuff.

I'm not sure whether it was bullpen bits or mini-marvels, i think they were both essentially the same thing. yeah Chris G is a cool guy - and hes getting mini-marvels printed again so good luck to him and well done!
