Man! Oh Man! I am SO EXCITED! Geoff Johns himself has revealed on his message board the following statement (in this thread http://www.comicbloc.com/forums/showpost.php?p=705462&postcount=16 )

Hopefully you'll like where everyone else is eventually ends up. I've heard some plans for some but the ones I'm specifically working with also include Doctor Light II and, of course a favorite of everyone - Guy Gardner

This means nothing but AWESOME news for her! I am more than confident that Geoff will not only handle her fantastically...BUT he will also be able undo and/or explain what Judd Winick shamefully did to her!

Man I can't wait to find out what his plans actually are!

Excellent. At least that means she's been spared the ignominious death.

Does it seem to anyone else that IC and all of it's tie-ins actually created more problems then they solved? Because an awful lot of writers are working overtime to undo everything that happened.

I just noticed something...Kimiyo WAS altered slightly between the original Justice League of America poster and the revised one for the JLofA#1 covers. Her eyes! In the original, you see normal eyes...in the revised...they're all white. Like light probably. I know this doesn't sound like much but...who knows what this could mean

It probably means nothing, considering that at least 3/4 of the individuals there had no eyes.

Perhaps she'll join the New Global Guardians in Green Lantern.

He did mention Guy, which means him and Kimiyo will probably be showing up more in Hal's book. And yeah, given that he's still wanted for repeated violation of the Freedom of Power Treaty, she could be representing Japan in the Global Guardians. Could be pretty cool.

Yeah I've been told that now lately. I just looked at her, not the others.

Yeha I've been thinking that is the one title Geoff is doing (save for 52) that she can appear in...the superman title is another but not as good chances as this.

Why would he be using Guy? He's the main focus of GL CORPS and the upcoming Howard Chaykin GUY miniseries.......and now apparently in GREEN LANTERN?

A bit much here?

He's been using Guy for the last two or three issues, I think. Hal's book has crossed over into the Corps book, so Guy and Kilowog (and a few other old and new Lanterns) have shown up in the past few issues. I doubt Guy will be sticking around permanently, or at least as strong in presence, on Hal's book, but he's still there for use.

I think once the current arc in Green Lantern is over, they'll turn the focus back to Hal on Earth, and that'll probably lead up to Kimiyo appearing and, maybe, something involving the new Global Guardians.

Hal and Doctor Light were very close to getting it on in the last few issues of Justice League Internation right before Emerald Twilight hit, perhaps Johns intends to bring that subplot back.

Yes! Re-establish Hal "I'd Hit That" Jordan! He's already back to his old punching frenzies, now we need to resurface this part of his character! :D

Ah, but what about Arisia who just came back in the pages of GL? She and Hal have much more of a personal history than Hal and Kimiyo...

Thanks for reminding me of that fact...I completely forget about it.

Dr. Light II is the last of the COIE-created characters still around.

Pariah - dead

Harbinger - dead

Lady Quark - dead

Alexander Luthor - dead

Superboy-Prime is still around, and the Monitor(s) is back, but they existed even before COIE.

No, she was brought back from the dead (in a "She never really died manner) I guess and was used in IC and wasn't killed off then.

Superboy-Prime was created during the Crisis, just outside of an issue of Crisis on Infinite Earths, so I think he should still count. Even if he's twisted-effin'-nuts now.

Wait...those Silver Age Superman stories I read of Superman using his super hypnotism to Superboy Prime help were made in the mid-eighties?

Different Superboy. The Superboy from Earth-Prime had his powers for all of a few days before he was thrown into the Crisis.

I wonder if the Green Lantern-related project that Johns is working on with Ethan Van Sciver, mentioned on Newsarama today, could be a New Global Guardians mini? That could be very cool!

I wouldn't mind seeing J'onn spend some time with the NGG during his break from the JLA, assuming it doesn't contradict with his mini that I'm not reading.

Excellent news for Dr. Light. I'm sure Johns will handle her well. The Global Guardians seems like a good place for her to appear.

Do you think though, and knowing 1) it involves hal who Geoff has made veyr clear is one of his all time favs and 2) it would fit with Geoff's knack for closing/using old/dangling plot threads from the past and revist them now, that Kimiyo's use could be MORE than just the GG...I mean I am not saying she'd become a "Hal's girl" or anything, but that Geoff could call back to the time they served with the JLI? I mean she succeed him after he became parallax!

Marionette's done it again! She posted an interesting blog entry about the vote the Big three had on Kimiyo in JLA #2 and, I must admit, she's gotten me thinking about it in a way I never considered. http://marionetteblog.blogspot.com/2006/09/light-at-end-of-tunnel.html check it out here

Basically she talks about what the big three mention about her, more specifically (I think) Batman and Wonder WOman. Batman said she'll give off a message and "It'll scare them". Wonder Woman says they don't need that kind of message. WHAT message are they talking about?

at first I thought it was just because of the whole "Shares the name of a villian/rapist" but so points out it could be more than that. It could be, in an even post-depowerment probably during 52 or something, Kimiyo's done something...something questionible! What could it be?

Either way, thanks to Marionette I am even MORE excited about what's instore for her!

I am very, very pleased to hear about Kimiyo Hoshi being used. As a character, she was always plucky and intriguing, with intriguing powers that were never truly utilized by any writer. She's one of my few favorite Post-Crisis DC characters.

It's especially exciting to hear that she is being used by a man as talented as Geoff Johns, one of the writers most skilled at characterization.

Green Arrow would be a more interesting character if his personality traits (his "loveable crank" nature, concern for the little guy) were transplanted onto a woman, because there it would all make more sense, because it would come from the desire to nurture. And the ability to talk and talk and have no one in particular listen is a characteristic more commonly ascribed to women as to men.

And she has great powers. Can she turn invisible, or fire an aiming beam for her light? Throw up holograms? Fire laser beams? Diffract the lasers of others by breaking them prism-style, into harmless rainbows?

She's quite powerful. The Kimiyo Hoshii Dr. Light once brought the Anti-Monitor to his knees. That's some serious power.

I don't think it meant anything more than what we were meant to percieve. That Batman thought having Kimiyo on the team as Dr. Light would send a message to the villain community that the League isn't shaken at all by the fallout of Identity Crisis. Personally, I thought that bit really seemed unnecessary and even a bit distasteful.

Yeah, basically Dr. Light's presence on the team is a reminder to the villain community about what the league did--and what it could do in the future.

I'm not sure I buy that logic and it seems awfully mean of Batman to want Kimiyo in the league strictly to send a message and not because of her actual merits...

One thing that never made sense about Kimiyo was her costume. Why would she wear a costume that was practically identical with that of the evil Dr. Light?

she was created like that in the original Crisis.. Her powers were given to her by the Monitor who fashioned her costume after the original Dr Light.

During her recent Chat-party on comic bloc, I asked Gail Simone a bunch of Kimiyo Questions and she responded with the following. (this is off the tip of my head with what did I exactly ask and how did she exactly answer...I know her responses have a greater chance of being near-direct-quotes though. And they're what matter most anyway)

1)
"Do Kimiyo's kid still exist AND were they, indirectly, the reason behind Kimiyo's "You should have done what you're paid to do like I did" in her apperances on Page 1 of BoP #100 when talking to her fellow scientist who was complaining how he and the other scientists weren't able to see their families."

She, thankfully, stated 1) her kids DO still exist and 2) yes they were indirectly what she was talking about.

2)
"Will you be using her and if so what kind of things will you do? And will what you do at all have, either minorly or majorly, focus on her being a single mother?"

She responded with a "Maybe" to the first and a "I am not allowed to discuss any direct plans at all about Kimiyo"

That last part, her not being allowed to discuss any future major story-line details about Kimiyo got me interested. Usually when people aren't allowed to discuss about a character, and give that kind of response...usually big plans are involved. And Geoff DID also announce long ago he had plans for her.

Well looks like all those "Wait and sees" may be coming to an end and be well worth the wait.
