First of all, I just have to say... my opinion of Brad Walker was, at first, pretty negative. However, I'm very happy to see an amazing rate of improvement. The weird anatomy is absent in this issue and there's a cool style to everything.

The good news is that Knockout is back. Ragdoll likes Jell-O. Then Dr. Psycho deals a pretty deadly blow to the team. Oh, and Vandal Savage was a grandson.

It was a great issue. The dialogue is almost pushing "too quirky" but is staying on a merely funny level.

Forget her back. This ish was all about her front.

Good story, btw. I'm liking the Six's continuing adventures, and I hope that they finally score a monthly when all's said and done.

I think this is my favorite comic at the moment. I forget about it until I read it and then when I do I have a massive revalation.

The funniest bit had to be when the hatter was putting hats on the fruit. Absolutely priceless.

Vandal Savage was a grandson.

Don't you mean Vandal Savage wants a grandchild?

After reading this issue I'm convinced that the Madd Hatter is gay. How can any man ignore a dipping wet naked chick walk across the kitchen? He is truly insane.

I angrily demand this story continue past #6. Possibly the best issue of pure dialogue I've seen in a very long time.

I shake my fist to make it an ongoing!!!!! :p

Thanks, Aaron King! I'm glad you're liking the art! Getting better quickly is a great compliment! Hope #4 continues to please!

Wow! I was so nervous when I saw that Brad Walker himself had responded! Anyway, thank you Mr. Walker. Thanks for the book. I hope to see more of your work. Your facial expressions and character poses are getting really sharp and minimalist in a sort of Joe Kubertish way -- there aren't any excess lines holding the forms back, so the issue read really smoothly. I feel kind of bad for doubting you at first. You have all sorts of great fluidity, which is the only thing I missed in Dale's art on Villain's United (it was a little stiff).

The other comparison that springs to mind is Terry Moore's work on the first few issues of Strangers in Paradise. I know he's talked a lot about how steep his learning curve was and how he felt he just busted out as an artist after a couple issues. After I finished Secret Six #3, I went back to make sure it was the same artist.

Sorry for all the gushing. I just want to make sure it comes off as a compliment of your current work and not a criticism of your earlier stuff.

Best line I've read in 3 months or more ......

Lawton on the Mad Hatter: Guy does hat crimes. He was never gonna end well.

Outstanding.

I think the art work takes some getting used to, compared to Eaglesham's work on VU, but I've gotten used to it now, and liked it. And this is some of Gail Simone's funniest work ever.

No, no, I didn't take it as a criticism at all! I would much rather be a guy somebody started out not liking, and got into, than somebody that everybody was amazed by on the first few things I did, then quickly started to look half-assed and crappy! I've seen many of those guys throughout my collecting, and it's always a big let down! Plus, I was aware from the beginning that on a book like SS, with me being pretty unknown, that many people would open it expecting to see Dale Eaglesham inside. I'm really pleased that folks seem to be giving me the benefit of a second impression! Thanks to everybody!

He's not a homosecual. He's a hat-o-sexual.

Just read it. The only thing the series seems to be missing are kickass covers - they don't tell us what's inside or get me excited to read it. That said, the Doom Patrol cover looks great - so I hope this is a trend developing...

Love the characters - wonder what the ending will do to Ragdoll. Love that Knockout too.

I hadn't realized there already was an S6 thread! Can someone delete the one I started?

I gotta say, Walker's artwork is KILLER.

Betcha he'd have noticed if she'd had a hat on (and nothing else). It's a fetish thing, I think.

What? Are you kidding me? You know he's been crazy for a long time, right? I mean, look at No Man's Land. He was obsessed with hats back then as well.

I loved this issue. The humour is what really makes a comic work for me, one of the reasons I love Deadpool over in Marvel. I'm actually one of those guys who keeps a steady stream of consciousness going, and likes to keep the mood up in a room, and love to see people cracking wise, regardless of the situation.

As for the Hatter, yeah... 15 years of reading comics, and him ignoring Knockout because she wasn't wearing a hat is the clearest sign of insanity I've seen shown yet :)

Just read it. The only thing the series seems to be missing are kickass covers -

Secret Six has some of the better covers on the stands today (right up there with Nextwave). Very stylish and visually distinctive. You know the minute you see an issue of Secret Six.

Maybe if she had nipples and not blank Barbie anatomy :-)

Also how does Lawton know that she's a natural redhead when she clearly doesn't have pubic hair?

Wow, when those are the only two criticisms I have on a comic, it must be pretty good.

Hey! I tried to give her nipples, but you can blame DC for the way things turned out! As for the lack of pubic hair, well, I'll take 50% of the blame there...

This is Deadshot we're talking about. He's got some really good eyesight (and that's about as much elaboration as I think it's safe to make. :) )

I like the new Ragdoll more and more. His look is very cool. And the way he talks is amusing. "I'm going to buy a monkey house...." God, that cracked me up!

Man, I really love this lineup and the series itself. It's like DC's own CABLE & DEADPOOL, what with the mix of action, humor, and great characters. There are enough cool stories to be told using the Secret Six that I wish we could get it as an ongoing in place of, say, Lieberman's MARTIAN MANHUNTER or one of the other OYL new ongoings.

Martian Manhunter is an 8-issue mini. So is Uncle Sam etc. The only spin-off that seems to be a clear ongoing is Shadowpact.

Maybe it's just me but I prefer my hot super heroine chicks with nipples but sans pubic hair. Call me quirky.

I have been following this group since Villains United. I love 'em they are the best bunch of anti heroes I've read in a long time. Catman and Deadshot are hoot with their banter and Ragdoll is one dimension weirder than Michael Jackson with his surgery addiction thing. And of course Scandal and Knockout, the whole hot lesbian chicks thing. Fun for the whole family.

I stand corrected. I was basing that off a DC ad showing the various OYL titles that made it appear as if only SPECTRE and SECRET SIX were minis and the rest were all ongoings.

The ads have been very vague. (Which may help sales, I guess.) I couldn't tell what was a mini and what was an ongoing until they showed up on the ship lists with "of 8" after them.

That's certainly better than that story in the early 90s that insinuated Jervis might have been a pedophile. Yikes!

Concering the Doom Patrol....

I thought Mento was nuts and evil? Shrinking Violet's alive? Good grief, talk about being out of the loop.

I mightve messed up her name, I dunno. It's been years since I read DP.

Jack Zodiac

Shrinking Violet is in the Legion of Super-heroes in the 31st century. The giant woman in the Doom Patrol is Elasti-Girl, Rita Farr.

As for Mento, they explained his going psycho and becoming a villain as a side-effect of wearing the helmet for too long. Now he's in control of the helmet and leads the new Doom Patrol. All of his past, however, is still in-continuity. Apparently. Somehow.

Count Vertigo

That's the name! I dunno how I mixed those two up. So even though, the helmet made him a whacko (and gave him a better sense of fashion) he's still leading. Is the Chief still around as a head?

Jack Zodiac

A head firmly attached to a neck and shoulders on a torso with arms and legs in a wheelchair. ;)

It seems that all of their continuity was brought back up until just before they find out that he was behind their accidents and he winds up getting his head lobbed off by Dorothy. The Painting that Ate Paris is even in their new base. Hopefully they'll explain it if and when they get another series.
