I'm hoping to get some opinions on the Absolute edition of Crisis on Infinite Earths. My question is: Is it better to read the actual story before reading the Compendium (the companion book with the behind-the-scenes story of the series)? I own 7 issues of the original series in floppies, which I read when they came out. This includes the final issue, so I know how it ends. (The final resolution of Earth-2's Superman really packed an emotional wallop with me at the time.) I'm really looking forward to reading the Compendium, but does anyone have an opinion on which would be the optimal reading order? Would reading the Compendium first take away from the experience of reading the whole story? I know it's not a big deal either way, just looking for thoughts from those who have read both. Thanks.
