Nice work. He looks thoughtful to me. :)

Are the cracks bumpmaps or modelled?

Great job man! I'd love to see some more Marvel characters when you get the time to do them.

I actually don't consider this piece to be complete because I haven't modeled the entire body, and I still want to redo some of the head. The main thing I was happy about was that he ended up being low poly, so animating him should be easy later on. It took several hours to model. I don't know exactly how many. I used the standard box modeling method with a mirrored half for the head. The eyes are the highest poly part of the model, and I should probably use lower poly eyes because the materials I used don't rely on polygonal complexity.

What really made this model possible was the free Simbiont materials from Dark Tree. They had these amazing dried mud materials that I altered to get the Thing's rocky skin. There were actually several I chose from, then tweaked until it looked about right. I still want to tweak it a bit.

In the Batman forum I've also posted a Batman model I made.

I know that there are software development projects in progress to make Marvel and DC games like City of Heroes, and I'd love to work on them, but it's difficult to get these jobs for some reason. I've also made a number of CoH characters based on Marvel and DC characters, a practice that is frowned upon by some. You can see my CoH version of Phoenix here on a magazine cover mockup I put together:
