Rivalries make for some great stories in any aspect of life. Think Red Sox vs. Yankees, Ken Shamrock vs. Tito Ortiz, Steve Austin vs. Vince, Wolverine vs. Sabretooth, Batman vs. Joker....

One that has been somewhat developed over time but has not been FULLY explored yet is a potential Huntress vs. Scarecrow rivalry.

-Back in No Man's Land the Huntress and the Scarecrow battled when the Scarecrow had found his way into that church and attempted to explore the human fear during the quake. Only to be tharwated and battled by the Huntress at every turn. Sure it was Batman and the Penguins thugs that had tharwated the actual action...but it was the Huntress who battled the Scarecrow amongst the population who sought refuge at Father Chris's church.

-Fastforward to the Hush stroyline. The Huntress was manipulated into fighthing with Catwoman whom she thought was her old vigilante self. Helena was forced into battling what she feared the most and that was the person who was rejected by Batman to wear the Batgirl mantle. At the end of Hush we see the Huntress bitter and angry at the Scarecrow....

If the writers were to ever develop a PERSONAL feud between these two characters it would make for some great stories. Your thoughts?

I forgot all about the Hush situation. Personally I would rather see her go toe to toe with Hush/Tommy Elliot himself for manipulating her. Or even better Talia Head. I always saw similarities between Helena and Talia. The main difference is that Talia is arrogant and very confident of who she is, whereas Helena has doubts and beats herself up for not being perfect.

As a Huntress fan, I would rather see a story where Huntress has to strategise and use her wits (like she did in CFB), instead of going up against freaks. Though I'm told that she outwitted the Scarecrow in NML. However I can't remember the particulars of that story.

Scarecrow and Catwoman already have a major beef with one another (and that was before Selina became a good guy). Scarecrow can't be everyone's arch-enemy.

I do see some mileage out of making Huntress and Jason Todd adversaries, though, considering they both have advocated the use of more violent techniques in dealing with criminals. It'd be neat to see why one is a hero and the other a villain despite having somewhat similar mindsets and tactics.

Jason Todd is a self-absorbed sadist and killer. Huntress isn't, oh she might not risk her life to save a criminal. But she will
Fight to her last breath for innocents. Jason Todd doesn't care about anyone but himself. As his releasing chemicals on
Bludhaven--for sheer spite-shows.

I don't remember what happened between Catwoman and Jonthan Crane, except what happened in Batman "Terror" with Hugo Strange. And in that battle or psychological fight Scarecrow beat Catwoman hands down.

Things between Huntress and the Scarecrow were staring to get personal after Hush, and their battle during No Man's Land was very well done.

My memory's pretty foggy on this, but let's see if I can at least give the bare bones on the Scarecrow/Catwoman enmity.

During the Devin Grayson/Jim Balent run on the '90s CATWOMAN, Selina and Crane got in a scrap. Later, Selina discovered that Crane had slipped her a drug that was constantly accelerating her adrenaline/fear levels and would thus eventually drive her insane. I never read the conclusion of the story, but apparently Selina made it through OK.

Or did she? By the end of the series, Selina was severely messed up and even went all split-personality on us. Crane was eventually revealed to be the big bad responsible for Selina's condition. Turns out he held a grudge from whatever Selina did to him in the Grayson/Balent issue described above (crap, I really gotta find the conclusion of that story). He even implanted some post-hypnotic suggestion that would fill her with paralyzing fear if she ever came across the Scarecrow again. As a result, Scarecrow almost killed Selina, but by the time the series ended, she had made the Rocky comeback and whupped his butt good.
