Ms. Marvel’s quest to become a better superhero has been complicated due to the events of “Civil War.” “Ms. Marvel’ #6 kicks off a storyline that ties into the mega story and CBR News spoke to writer Brian Reed about the book.

by the way, which Ms. Marvel issues are being CW tie inns
When is Mystique going to show up? Given her psychotic nature, I'm sure Raven Darkholme still wants Carol Danvers dead.
I would also like to see the unresolved AIM plotline resolved from the original Ms. Marvel series.

Ms. Marvel #6-8
I'm glad Rogue appears. Hopefully, Carol's issues with Rogue will get in the way of the mission, although both women have supposedly resolved everything...

Great interview!
I was very pleased to see Reed address the parallels between the Stamford incident with the New Warriors, and the destruction of the town in MS MARVEL #3. I am also really excited about his plans for Wonder Man in the series.
I was a surprised by one part of the interview though:
"Those reading “New Avengers” got a little shock when Ms. Marvel was able to absorb some of the vast energy of the being known as the Collective. Carol’s powers had previously been limited to flight, super strength, the ability to fire off energy bursts, and the ability to absorb some energy. Reed does plan on delving into the nature of her absorption powers in upcoming issues. “‘The Collective’ was a big surprise,” Reed said. “It was a, ‘this is something she’s never done before’ type of thing. She’s got her absorption working where she can kind of suck up different forms of energy that radiate around her."
What about Carol absorbing some of the Collective's energy was a 'shock' to readers, or something she's never done before? Her ability to absorb radiant energy around her was established in Busiek's use of Carol in IRON MAN and AVENGERS, and displayed several times during those runs. She absorbed and channelled a ton of energu during the Kang War, when she tapped into the power core of Kang's warship. Just a few issues ago in NEW AVENGERS she absorbed Klaw completely when he fought her.
Since we've seen Carol absorb different types and levels of energy on several occassions now, I just don't understand what it was in 'The Collective' that was new or shocking.

It sure would be interesting to see what direction this book might have gone in, if it wasn't being tied into all these mega crossover events marvel keeps doing.

Of course she will have her powers back, otherwise it's no use to put on her costume again and take the codename Arachne again.

I kinda like the Arachne code-name. They should make Arana spider-girl and give her Mayday's book imo.

well my hope is that they give Arana a decent costume and haircut. she reminds me too much of Mattie Franklin, at this point.

I really don't care for the Arana character at all. Mayday and her supporting cast and villians are tons more intresting.

No spoilers, since it's too early, but I did get to read #6 today and a lot of Reed's comments are realized in the ish. I'm not a CW fan, but I have to admit he did a GREAT job of making a fun and entertaining issue using it as the backdrop. :)

I like Arachne a lot, ever since she debuted in Secret Wars. I also loved her on Freedom Force, though I never did read West Coast Avengers. I'm very glad she's back and I like the role she will play in the Ms. Marvel CW tie inn.
I really hope they will address the betrayel in the CW issues too.
I also hope she will be on one of the upcoming Avengers teams, she might be the character that persuade me to start buying Avengers.

This was the best issue to date for several reasons.
The art was noticeably better. I think Palmiotti was the wrong choice for embellisher. I had been wondering why I liked the pencil previews so much, but when I got the actual comic, I was disappointed.
I think Palmiotti's inks are too loose for De La Torre's tight pencils. Sometimes that works, but in this case, it didn't. The new inker is Jon Sibal -- and I'd offer him the job permanently.
Also, the story was cool. Loved the angst concerning Carol and Iron Man and Captain America.
Love Simon!
Loved the Shround and Arachne -- and the new relationship -- and that they're rebels.
Could have done without Arana.

i wish that Steve McNiven were the artist. he really knocked it out the park with his work on Ultimate Captain Marvel. Carol was in it too but had really really short hair.
