Essential Batman

Hi guys

Ive recently got into batman (not a huge DC fan) and i find it great to read a darker comic unlike most of my Marvel ones so my question is: What are the essential batman titles should i get a hold of? I was recently reading an article about The joker and all his crazy acts so if you could include him and the riddler that would be great =)

The Killing Joke is a good Joker story, I would also recommend Batman Year 1 and The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller.

I also like The Long Halloween.

I've not read many Batman titles so I really don't know any good Riddler stories.

Someone else here can recommend some more I'm sure

The Batman TBP list stickied at the top of this forum (http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?t=35000) is a great place to start!

Take your time and read the thread as people will give opinions on the best and worst and why they think that.

You'll also notice a lot of titles like Year One, Dark Knight Returns, Long Halloween or Killing Joke repeated often as great... so they're safe bets.
