Dear Jewish Community:
As you know by now my actions a few weeks ago tarnished what respect I had recieved from you as a community. I admit I had too much to drink and was partying like the rich mega-star bastard I am. Because lets face it , I am a GOD in Hollywood.
My comments were wrong and I apologize for saying them. I am not an anti-Semite. I know it happens when people get drunk and do the wrong thing and all. But hell , I should get the same excuse. Just because I'm the dude who did " The Passion of the Christ " doesn't mean I can't drink a lotta ale on a good day.
And lets be serious , I did " Passion " , from here to the end of time I should get a pass on things like this. It should be " Ohhh Mel Gibson called Pope Benedict a tart wearing fairy " , well he did Passion so he gets a pass. Or hey Gibson wiped his ass with some of the Shroud of Torine. PASS.
In the end its easy to blame me , Mel Gibson : aka Riggs from Lethal Weapon and all.
My future endeavers will see me make Passion II and this time Jesus will be really put thru some bad times. I plan on upping the budget and adding Woody Allen as his sidekick.
I wish to get this ugly incident behind me. And get back to producing films where I can showcase my love of the Jewish culture. Thank you all for the time.
Sincerly : MEL GIBSON. *
* Mr.Gibson wishes to thank the Academy and Woody Allen for already handing him his Oscar to Passion II.

Mel Gibson has always struck me as the kind of a guy who you could sit down and share a beer with, I never realized he was battling so many inner-demons.

Yes, you could share a beer with hm. And then he would crack you over the head with it!
I'm a little surprised he went on about hating Jews. Given his movies I thought he'd making insulting remarks about the British.

I really don't give a shit about his anti-semitic comments. Yes, they were terrible, but I expected as much from him. I give a shit about endangering the lives of people around him while he's driving a 2000 pound automobile and then finding out that the cops were trying to cover up some of his antics.

The apple never falls far from the tree. His father is in sime weird sect of Catholicism, who believe the Holocaust was fiction.

Yes, but then an astonishingly high number of people do drunk-driving on a regular basis. And the rich and famous being given a special legal status...that's nothing new or unusual in America, either.
All things considered, it is much more remarkable to hear a modern American celebrity make such blatantly antisemitic comments.

Who gives a crap what Mel Gibson thinks? He's an actor, he wears makeup for a living.
If Hollywood were suddenly gutted of alcoholics that lacked moral fiber it would be a freakin' ghost town. I seriously can't see how this is still news.

This is true. Mel Gibson, and people like him, the Barbra Streisands, the Woody Harrelsons, the Ed Asners, the George Clooneys, all of these people are trained parrots spouting off opinions they've overheard from their coked-up friends at the latest parties they go to, and have all the intellectual vapidy of a goldfish. These people who, for a living...well, a director tells them where to stand, a writer tells them what to say, a wardrobe person tells them what to wear... trained parrots really does describe these elitist snobs, who turn around and think that because people see them in the movies, that their opinion actually means something, and start lecturing (the) hoi polloi on how to act, vote, and think, meanwhile behaving like a bunch of blithering idiots.
There's only really three things I care about: God, my family, and my paycheck...and whether these preening peacocks live or die makes little difference to me. BUT ... when these self-important icons of idiocy are caught acting, talking, or behaving like the hypocritical halfwits that they are... it brings a smile to my face.
Schidenfreunde? Mmmmmmaybe. I mean, I don't actively WISH for these people to screw up*. I have a life, y'know. But on the other hand, I can't help but think of that quote Count Dooku made in Revenge of the Sith: "Twice the pride...twice the fall" (or something like that).
The next time some celebrity wants to lecture you on politics or the environment or war, please keep in mind the other insane stuff they believe and the genuine disdain they have towards us. Hollywood is filled with drug-addict, whore-chasing, fuck-ups who sincerely do believe that they're better then the local mechanic who loves his wife and kids. The only good news is that they're rich and easily duped, so anyone with a moose costume and a flashlight could probably convince a bunch of them that only the MooseLight Foundation can show the way to true enlightenment. That should be good for at least a few million outta them.

SHOCKED I say...
... to discover that people are unaware that Hollywood is a Utopia where no one in the history of cinema has ever gotten drunk, driven a car, and made racist comments under the influence (the fact that Gibson sidestepped the Hollywood community to make a movie on his own had naught to do with it, I'm sure).
Thank goodness there are Hollywood producers, who have been completely spotless of sin throughout their Hollywood careers, who pay for billboards to spotlight Mr. Gibson's transgressions.

I think in Mel's case it comes from his father, who's a vocal Holocaust denier.

Yeah, but it's less about Hollywood, more about Mel Gibson, who for the past couple years has held himself up as a paragon of virtue, even going as far as to start his own church, falling flat on his ass. It's more along the lines of Bill Bennet's gambling debts.
At least from my perspective.

Very true. You can add Limbaugh and O'Reilly to the list too.
But, I believe that a big part of this story isabout the Hollywood community and how they treat others in that community who profess a different set of beliefs than waht is Hollywood norm (many who also set themselves up as paragons of what is "right" and what is "wrong"). Take the Alzheimer's jokes George Clooney made at the expense of Charlton Heston, saying that he deserved anything that was said about him just because he was head of the NRA. The "Mel Gibson is EEEE-vil" billboards paid for by Hollywood big-wigs are just another example of this.
I just find it baffling that Hollyood chose the idiotic, bigoted, druken slurs of Mel Gibson to get all piss-fire angry about anti-semitism when there are people in the world who want to wipe every Jew off the face of the Earth.

It's easier to deal with people who are near you than those who are very far away.
Seriously, I don't think there's a damn thing Hollywood could do to stop Arab Anti-Semitism. Radical Muslims aren't going to listen to anything anyone in Hollywood ever says anyway, so it's a doomed venture. Mel Gibson, on the other hand, is part of the Hollywood community. He is slightly easier to get in touch with, to put pressure on, etc.

Which in some weird way makes radical muslims sound smarter than your average American.
As for the whole thing, the dude was drunk. Get him for whatever crimes he committed, but his comments were the result of being drunk and wanting to find a way to insult the officer arresting him. And believe me, given my Dad's side of the family I've seen some drunk people say and do things that they'd never dream of when sober.

I just wonder what it would be like if an actor/director (male) known for being a bit "liberal" in his politics got arrested for drunk driving and said, "The Christians are responsible for all the wars in the world", "F..ing Christians!" and to the arresting officer, "Are you Christian?" and called a male officer in attendance, "Sugar Balls".

Being drunk doesn't put thoughts in your head.
It just lowers your judgement to keep them there.
