Yeah i knew about it.I remember it being shown over here in the U.K when the first Batman movie came out.I then video them so have had them in my collection for a while.
I recently bought them off e-bay as a family member taped over them (no-one has owned up yet)
As for the quality of the show well its not bad and its certainly a little racist against the japanese but all in all i'd say its worth watching.

I believe that is one of the old movie serials.

It's not a tv series, it was a movie serial. There were two of them: one in '43, the other in '49. Both are available on dvd now.

I really wish they'd do a Region 2 release of these serials. I have both of them after finding them on a torrent site but proper quality ones would be lovely.

Nah, the two villains were Dr Daka and someone called the Wizard.

There are also quite a few "Slanty-eyed Jap" lines thrown in that first one. Height of WWII propaganda at it's best. It was off the market for quite a while, then an edited version was out there. The DVD releases are the original, unedited versions, however.

I accidentally found them from the IMDb myself, but haven't seen them. Would love to, though :D

I've seen them both right the way through. They are simmilar in style to the Old Flash Gordon Movie Serials and Lone Ranger. Each episode ended with a cliff hanger. There was no Batmobile (they drive a normal car) but there was Robin. Batman's ears flopped all over the place.
I'd say don''t break your back trying to own them. They're not very good in comparisson to other Movie serials of the time or earlier.

This serial used to be shown on Australian television every school holidays when I was young, and my brother and I would watch it every time (they also showed Godzilla movies a lot). I loved it back then.
I bought it not long ago, and I have to say, it's not great. It's incredibly racist, as was a lot of media at the time.
It certainly isn't of the same level of quality as the Buster Crabbe Falsh Gordon serial.
