Remember DKR when robin fires the bat mobils cannon hitting Superman. He turns the tank over, rips open the side with his hands and sees this terrified girl who shot him trying to hold him off with a sling shot.
And all big blue does is ask her, "Isn't tonight a school night?"

that video makes me wonder if dark knight retruns was even supoosed to be taken seriously lol Was pretty cool though, when was this made? was it aired on tv?Sure a whoel animated movie on it be cool but a live action with bruce willis as batman would be better, after seeing sin city idk his role in that movie just reminded me so much of batman/bruce in dark knight returns or is it just me?

It was part of an episode where a bunch of kids tell different stories about Batman. One ends up being the DKR Batman, voiced by Michael Ironside. Another is a 50s goofball version voiced by Gary Owens.

that kid Joel under the "Shoemaker" sign, talking about how fabulous Batman is and how his car can climb buildings, was hilarious. Gotta love anyone who mocks Batman and Robin.
Personally, I think if they were going to go the route of showing something from DKR it shoulda been the Batman-Superman fight. Not that this wasn't awesome, it was, its just I've been dying to see that fight animated since I first read it.

I think the biggest misconception about Dark Knight (and most of Millers work) was that it was this dark serious work. I think people missed a lot of the humor in the book. A good chunk of DKR is farce and satire.

Totally. I think that's the biggest problem with the writing of Batbooks post-DKR; everyone tries to write Miller's Batman while making it serious and thereby totally missing the point.

yeah before reading DKR I was told it was suposed to be this serious dark tale about a bad ass batman who lets nothing stand in his way. After reading it i decided it is that but much more its obvious theres a lot of humor in it , i mean even the "slice and dice slice and dice" , "rubber bullets" thing, its kind of like its making of fun of the really dark serious parts, like it kind of parodys itself but only to a certain extent? idk if im making any sense, but i like that style alot so thats its taken seriously but just not too seriously, with the humor added. Thinking about it makes me want to read all-star more and more ive heard so much shit about that book, but it seems like hes attempting the same thing for that book except there seems to be paroding its self to a higher extreme, but i have a feeling that buy the time the series ends it will end up in the right place and be as prasied ask DKR, well at leasts thats my theory.

Aw man, I remember that. That was a nice surprise. I hope one day DC puts this story on DVD animated. That would be sweet

BTAS volume 3, I saw that episode a day or so after it was delivered in the mail. I'm not sure, but did they get the complete run of 'Batman' cartoons by Dinni/Timm out already-- I kinda got the impression they did.

They did. Both Batman and Superman are done: Batman Beyond and JLU have yet to be finished (but are coming out).

I doubt the WB would have approved a sequence of Batman and Superman beating the tar out of one another.

I remember hearing from the commentary on this particular episode that Miller loved what Dini/Timm did with DKR.

Yeah, Timm was saying in the commentary how Miller kept leaving voice messages about how he just watched the footage over and over again. Thats awesome for Timm and the guys.

It's Volume 4. I believe there's a commentary on the episode too.
