Astonishing TPB Plans?

I got a late start (ish 14) of Astonishing and need a bit of advice: Are there plans by Marvel to collect any of the Whedon run's prior issues in TPB or otherwise? I'm hoping so in order to avoid a prolonged hunt for back issues.

I've seen some recap book that was made up of selected panels and apparently new narration, but didn't pick it up.

Yep. The first 12 issues were collected in TPB's 'Gifted' and 'Dangerous' and also in one oversized Hardcover. :)
