I just bought the 2 Audioslave albums in a sale. Wow!!! They are really good.

I then went out and bought "Superunknown" (I had heard this b4, when I borrowed it from a friend in the mid 90's-I love that song "My Wave") and then Chris Cornell's solo album.

All good stuff. Am I alone in thinking this band Audioslave is AWESOME? I wish I had been listening to this stuff for a long time. I might add I thought it was going to be a lot heavier than it was, and I think he has an amazing voice.

Get Badmotorfinger.

I have the first Audioslave album and actually haven't heard the second one. There's some good stuff on Audioslave. I wish the energy that's on the first track, Cochise, was carried throughout the entire album, but it's still a pretty solid disc.

I'd recommend getting Down on the Upside as well. Great stuff.

And if you haven't already, get the Rage Against the Machine albums, too.

But yeah, Audioslave is capable of kicking some ass, and Chris Cornell is an amazing singer.

As far as modern alt bands go they're clearly one of the better ones, and Cornell really has a set of pipes.

Anyone else feeling the new Audioslave album, "Revelations"? I'm loving it! They are really an awesome band. Since this thread started, I've "discovered" just how great Soundgarden were as well. Awesome stuff. For me, Chris Cornell is The Man. Can't wait till he does his solo album either!

They rock live! With a voice like Cornell's I expected him to take it easy but he really cut loose and didn't miss a beat. Best voice in rock in my opinion.

Wicked, you've seen them live! Awesome!!! There is an "unplugged in sweden" bootleg floating around..its gold. Just him doing some Audioslave, some SG, and some cool covers.

Just him doing some Audioslave, some SG, and some cool covers. They did a few SG covers at the concert, most notably, a haunting acoustic version of Blackhole Sun. They also did a surprising number of Rage Against the Machine covers, all of which were top notch.

The new CD's great. "Sound Of A Gun" is an instant classic. On the day it came out I also got the 4-song live CDEP with it (at Best Buy). I'm going to have to admit I'm sick of "Black Hole Sun" and "Spoonman." I'd rather here them cover "Room A Thousand Years Wide" or something.

Prefer SoundGarden Black Hole Sun Rocks!

again, i am compelled to agree. Black Hole Sun is without a doubt one of Soundgarden's best songs. try to get some of their albums, preferably Superunknown or Badmotorfinger

Also get Temple Of The Dog since that's effectively a Soundgarden-Pearl Jam offering, with most of the songs written by Cornell.

I think Audioslave is okay, nothing great ... I'm more so a fan of Cornell's voice than anything else. In this case I think the parts (Cornell, and the Rage boys) are greater than their sum. I think they should reunionize with their OLD bands.

OR

Have De La Rocha release his solo album already.

I always kinda thought that Audioslave peaked on their first song on their first album.

Soundgarden though...now that was a great band.

I have the Temple of the Dog CD, plus the last 3 SG albums, plus "A sides"-all gold. I am just a huge Chris Cornell fan, and I'm looking really forward to his new solo CD!

I just bought REVELATIONS the other day and I gotta say, I'm disappointed with the direction their leading the band in. I absolutely LOVED the first album, I think its the best one. I so much prefer songs like What You Are, Shadow of the Sun, Show Me How to Live, Bring Em Back Alive, Gasoline, The Last Remaining Light (my all-time favorite Audioslave song), Getaway Car, Like A Stone, and I Am The Highway. The second album OUT OF EXILE was good, but not as great as the first. And it had some really stupid songs on it *cough*DoesntRemindMe*cough* (I cant believe it was a single!) but still rocked with Your Time Has Come, Yesterday to Tomorrow, #1 Zero, Out of Exile, Be Yourself, Dandelion, and The Curse. I didn't care for the rest on that album.

So far, I'm REALLY enjoying Wide Awake, Moth, Revelations, Nothing Left To Say but Goodbye, and Sound of A Gun. The rest don't really grab me. Then there's the horribles like Original Fire (can't believe this is their first single), Jewel of The Summertime, and Until We Fall (which reminds me the Black Crows...and I HATE the Black Crows.)

I really want to like Audioslave (I love Soundgarden and Rage), but it doesn't help when they go down a direction I dont care for. The same happened with A Perfect Circle. I dont understand it though. Commerfield, Morello and Wilk all kick so much ass together. I LOVE their style. And I really enjoy Cornell's vocals. His Soundgarden work was amazing! But throw these two forces together and somehow...it just doesnt work for me. At least lately. I'll keep supporting them until I absolutely cant stand their music.

I was never one for pseudo-Maoist politics.
That being said, I credit them all with musical talent.
Cornell especially, he's got a voice like a Mack Truck.

Their politics doesn't especially interest me, I guess I'd agree with them on some things, but not on everything-a lot of the things the former RATM members care about, i know nothing about. But i do love Chris Cornell, he is the man for me, I love his voice, his lyrics, the lot. And the band sure can play. I love them!

I love The Shape Of Things To Come. It's my favourite Audioslave track to date.

Somedays is a great one (that's the name right? I dled the album), and the rest of Revelations is excellent so far. I've yet to come across a song of theirs that I didn't like. Easily becoming one of my favourite bands.

I always enjoyed the work of Rage Against The Machine but I never really got into Soundgarden so Audioslave was always going to be a gamble for me anyway.

I can't say I like the band to be honest.

That one song where he sings '"because it doesn't remind me of anything" is okay though.

:)
