Okay we know Forge invents Nimrod (O_o?) but why?

It looked like he invented it to protect mutantkind or atleast thats what I guessed when he called Scott and told him he had a surprise for him.

But if this is true how long till we learn what caused it to go so horribly wrong. In latest New X-Men it seems that Nimrod will try to explain to Forge what his mission is, but in the previous issue didnt he already say his prime directive is self preservation? I know that this is one of the things Forge encrypts into his memory banks, we see that on the screen dont we?

Come on, someone help me out here. I'd like to kick forge in the junk for this.

That's only speculation at the moment. Nimrod refers to Forge as 'The Maker', but that's actually Forge's mutant name. He never used it much, but he's been referred as it a few times over the years. I'd wait until the whole storyline plays out before jumping to conclusions about what Forge's part in Nimrod may have been. Because up to this point it's all just speculation until it's confirmed.

There is no written evidence yet to suggest Forge built Nimrod.

I think that Nimrod he built is really a Firby.

I wish Forge would leave Dallas and go find Black Panther and beat the snot out of him.

I'd buy it.

Heck I'd buy 2 just to piss Hudlin off.

Well it would appear Forge was making Nimrod to destroy the sentinels and protect the mutants.

Apparently Forge has never seen any of those movies where technology built to help turns on its creators and causes mass destruction (and ass destruction).

Silly Forge. All he had to do was watch the trailer to Stealth and he'd realize what a dumb idea building a Nimrod is.

Yeah, but who would want to watch the movie Stealth. :p

Is this Nimrod different than the original? I thought the original Nimrod was built in the DoFP timeline by Sentinals. And wasn't there already a Nimrod built in present who appeared in X-Force?

I'm sure Project: Nimrod had sentinels and mutant slaves do what they can do build Nimrod.

I figure Nimrod doesn't have any connection to Forge exect right now, for no apperent reason, he self repair system's not working and he knows Forge is the only man on Earth capable of fixing his damaged technology.

Forge's Sentinel Smacker probably will be destroyed in the final battle so as to keep the X-men shackled under the evil eye of ONE.

Exactly what I thought...that Nimrod, from Rachel's timeline, was a superadvanced AI that was itself built by AI.

And certain preview captions have used the words "creator" in reference to Forge and Nimrod...although as Beast points out, previews captions aren't canon.

I believe Chris Yost has promised an answer to these paradoxes before the arc is through, but for myself, while I have satisfactory faith in his intent, I have less faith in his ability. Nimrod and his time-travel paradox is generally a can of worms best left unopened...it might have been better not to use Nimmy at all rather than raise up the hornet's nest of continuity problems that come with him.

Just my opinion.
