I LOVE not just what Bruce says, but his whole reaction to Alfred's suggestion. He gave him a "what-the-fuck's-wrong-with-you?"-type reply. Makes me laugh every time I see it.

Any one of like 4 different characters: Why do we fall Bruce? So we can learn to pick ourselves back up.
Not terrible in of itself, but repeated WAY to often. Really, the constant hammering of that one theme over and over and over again was my one major criticism of what was otherwise one of my favorite movies of the last 5 years.

DO I LOOK LIKE A COP?! *horrible Batman voice*
Gaspard
07-29-2006, 10:55 AM
I loved his voice, even if it sounded real weird. The best part in the movie is definitely when he grabs Falcone off from the car and says "I'm Batman!". Also the scene with him and Crane after he's given him a taste of his own medicine :)
Best quote? Probably this one, straight from IMDb.com
Carmine Falcone: People from your world... have so much to lose. Now you think that because your mommy and your daddy got shot, you know about the ugly side of life, but you don't. You've never tasted desperate. You're Bruce Wayne, the Prince of Gotham, you'd have to go a thousand miles to meet someone who didn't know your name, so don't come down here with your anger, trying to prove something to yourself. This is a world you'll never understand. And you always fear what you don't understand.

Rachel: (slapping Bruce twice) "Your father would have been ashamed of you, Bruce."
Actually, it's pretty much the whole Bruce-tries-to-shoot-Chill thing (which is ridiculously out of character for Bruce) that led up to that line that makes it my least favorite.
Blight

Dr. Crane: *exposes Falcone to the fear gas* THEY SCREAM AND THEY CRY. Much like your doing right now.
Ducard: Death does not wait for you to be ready! Death is not considerate, or fair! And make no mistake, Here, you face death.

Yeah. And that "which road is he taking?"
"He's not a street, he's FLYING of rooftops!"
cop in annoyed voice:
"at least tell me what it looks like"
(batman zooms by)
"nevermind".
Don't be afraid Bruce. (I like how the theme of fear is played throughout the movie) You're just an ordinary man in a cape, that's why you couldn't fight injustice and that's why you can't stop this train.
-Who said anything about stopping it? You never did learn to mind your surroundings! (flies away)"
Jesus, there are so many cool quotes that you'd almost have to quote the whole movie.
Top that Superman!
To paraphrase Geoff Johns, "the last time you inspired anyone was when Christopher Reeve played you".
(which is ridiculously out of character for Bruce)
On the contrary. He was a man drifting through life aimlessly, that's why he didn't care that he'd go to jail by killing Chill. This is a genius bit. Rachel slapping him made him think, and realize that by using the gun he would become a killer himself and just another Joe Chill (remember how Joe Chill pointing the gun at his family flashes through his mind before he throws the revolver away in disgust).

i think that was the point, it was a 'defining' moment for bruce's personality. It helped him shape what he would become.

Favourite: "The way I see it, the only one in this room controlled by his parents is you."... Now that was one bad-ass line... I don't think anyone has ever or will ever burn Bruce quite that badly... xD
But that's Mask of the Phantasm... so er... yeah.
I think my favourite was pretty much anything Alfred said when he wasn't talking down to Bruce (He's your friggin BOSS Alfred. Stop talking to him like that...). Loved Michael Caine's Alfred for the most part.
I love "That one's not faking" after Crane left Falcone's cell. That was awesome.
As for least favourite, anything Rachel said... especially "Bruce?" "Your father would be ashamed."... considering the wide range of female characters in the Batman mythos... none of them could fill in that role? -__-; Especially considering Ra's is in it, you'd think Talia would be the perfect choice. (Also consider that Talia is by no means a damsel in distress, and is someone who can take care of herself in a fight.)

"Gotham's time has come. Like Constantinople or Rome before it the city has become a breeding ground for suffering and injustice. It is beyond saving and must be allowed to die. This is the most important function of the League of Shadows. It is one we've performed for centuries. Gotham... must be destroyed."
"There is nothing to fear, but fear itself! "
"He's here? "who?" "The Bat-Maaaan!"
" People from your world... have so much to lose. "You're not the devil. You're practice."
"Nice coat." "Thanks."
"It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me."
"This is where we make the medicine. Perhaps you should have some. Clear your head."
and last but certainly not least:
"Take this guy... armed robbery, double homicide... has a taste for theatrics, like you... he leaves a calling card." :evilsmile

This was from the teaser but still a hot quote.
Bruce: They told me there was nothing out there, nothing to fear. But the night my parents were murdered I caught a glimpse of something. I've looked for it ever since. I went around the world, searched in all the shadows. And there is something out there in the darkness, something terrifying, something that will not stop until it gets revenge... Me.
And this one was one of my favorites
Bruce Wayne: People need dramatic examples to shake them out of apathy and I can't do that as Bruce Wayne, as a man I'm flesh and blood I can be ignored I can be destroyed but as a symbol, as a symbol I can be incorruptible, I can be everlasting.
Alfred Pennyworth: What symbol?
Bruce Wayne: Something elemental, something terrifying.
Alfred Pennyworth: I assume that as you're taking on the underworld, this symbol is a persona to protect those you care about from reprisals.
Bruce Wayne: You thinking about Rachel?
Alfred Pennyworth: Actually, sir, I was thinking about myself.
That had me rollin' :)

"I've got to get one of those." --Gordon, first time he sees the Batmobile.
Gordon: And what about escalation?
Batman: Escalation?
Gordon: We get semi-automatics weapons, they get automatics. We get kevlar body armor, they get armor-piercing rounds. And you're wearing a mask. Take this guy... armed robbery, double homicide... has a taste for theatrics, like you... he leaves a calling card.
Batman: I'll look into it.
"Mister Wayne, if you don't want to tell me exactly what your doing, then when I'm asked, I don't have to lie. But don't think of me as an idiot." --Lucius Fox.
Earle: Mr. Fox... I seem to remember firing you.
Lucius Fox: You did. I got a new job. Yours.
Earle: By whose authority...?
Bruce Wayne: (on the phone in his limo) Bruce Wayne.
Earle: What makes you think you can decide who's running Wayne Enterprises?
Bruce Wayne: Well, the fact that I own it...
Earle: What are you talking about? The company went public a week ago?
Bruce Wayne: And I bought most of the shares, through various charitable organizations and trusts. Look, it's all a bit technical but the important thing is that the future of my company is secure. Right, Mr. Fox?
Lucius Fox: Right you are, Mr. Wayne!(to Earle) Didn't you get the memo?

Mr. Fox is a little underrepresented.
Fox: So, what's your interest in it, Mr. Wayne?
Bruce: I want to borrow it. For spelunking.
F: (with a priceless look) Spelunking?
B: Yeah, you know, cave-diving?
F: You expecting to run into much gunfire in these caves?
B: Look, I'd rather Mr. Earle didn't know about me borrowing...
F: Mr. Wayne, the way I see it... all this stuff is yours anyway.
Fox: You planning on gassing yourself again, Mr. Wayne?
Bruce: Well, you know how it is, Mr. Fox. You're out at night, looking for kicks, someone's passing around the weaponized hallucinogens...
As for my favourite butler:
Bruce: Well, it's a good thing I left everything to you, then.
Alfred: Quite so, sir. (leans back, closes his eyes) And you can borrow the Rolls if you like. Just bring it back with a full tank.

omg yes i forgot about that 1 quote. (i wouldve posted earlier to every1s responses, but i was banned for a week:D )
"Its not who I am underneath..but what i do. that defines me."
"Bruce?"
the reason i really liked this is because there was a metaphor to it and thats always clever when u can do that in a movie with a quote. because there's a double meaning to it. when rachel first said it to Bruce, she meant that it doesnt matter if ur a good person on the inside, its how u act that defines u. pointing out that hes more of a playboy rather than a person w/ integrity. and then, when Rachel sees Bats for the 3rd time(third time for Batman to save her life actually, which i just now realized not too long ago), she asks who he is.-- "Its not who i am underneath..but what i do. that defines me."--
now, this quote has a different meaning, now Batmans(Bruce) spittin the same line back in her face that she dissed him with by saying, its not who i am underneath, which meant its not who i am underneath this mask, which is bruce wayne, but what i do, as Batman that defines me.
idunno i just loved how that had a double meaning like that. pure genious IMO. definitely a great quote.

You don't get it. That was meant to illustrate what Bruce was and then how he grew up and learnt that it shouldn't be about revenge. He is three dimensional, not 2 dimensional like the comics.

god i love this movie.
I also hear actors use alot of the dialogue in practise in acting classes since it's flowing and real. like falcone's speech or bruce wayne talking on the plane.

It's been twenty years Fredericks. I think after twenty years we can allow ourselves to stop thinking about what Thomas would or would not have done.
Why isn't anyone answering the phone? It's Wayne Enterprises, Mr. Earle. I'm sure they'll call back.
- All creatures feel fear. - Even the scary ones? - Especially the scary ones. The whole play on fear throughout the movie is pure genius.
You fear your own power, the drive to do great or terrible things.
As much as I fear the passing of time, 2008 can't come fast enough.

Ra's al Ghul: Justice is balance. You burned down my house and left me for dead. Consider us even.
Ra's al Ghul: Well, well? You took my advice about theatricality a bit... literally.
Alfred Pennyworth: Of course, they'll have to be large orders to avoid suspicion.
Bruce Wayne: How Large?
Alfred Pennyworth: Say 10,000.
Bruce Wayne: Well, at least we'll have spares...
Alfred Pennyworth: In the meantime, may I recommend not landing on your head...
Alfred Pennyworth: When you told me your grand plan for saving Gotham, the only thing that stopped me from calling the men in white coats was when you said that it wasn't about thrill-seeking.
Bruce Wayne: It's not.
Alfred Pennyworth: What would you call *that*?

Bruce: Rachel, all this...this isn't me, inside... I am...... I am more.
That might be my favorite scene in the entire movie. I love how at first he's still kinda under the playboy routine with that kinda silly grin on his face. "WOW. It is...GOOD to see you." "Can't...change the world on your own right?"
And then that kinda fades away to the real Bruce.
