OK, technically this is a docutmentary film, but it 's a concert film around a documentary about an amazing lyricist and performer, turned Jewish Zen Monk. You know how in some songs, even really good songs, there's a word here or there that you think, "That's the best one? He/she couldnt' find ANYTHING better?!?" That's not the case with Cohen. Words really matter to him, and he polishes each phrase, the same way Hemingway did, "the Old Man & the Sea." The film is as amazing as the man, who is fantastically celebrated by Nick Cave, Rufus and Martha Wainright, along with their Mom, Kate McGarrigle, and Aunt, Anna McGarrigle (I don't think there's anything as amazing as Blood Harmony), as well as Jarvis Cocker, the Handsome Family, U2, Antony (imagine Bryan Ferry & Patti Smith merged in a transporter accident, and then be blown away!) and (http://imdb.com/title/tt0478197/) many many others. If this is showing ANYWHERE near you, go see it!!!

Huh. I wouldn't mind seeing that. As you say, the guy's a master wordsmith.

(Only one "m" in Hemingway, incidentally.)
