A few years ago, I liked it a lot, in the late nineties, early 21st...but I have lost contact with the book.

It depends on story arcs. One will be good, the next crap. I have more problems with the flip-flopping of art in the book. Its a good book to get into if you just want to read a batman story and not deal with timelines and continuety.

Back in the early 90s I read all the Bat titles, but when I came back I started with only LODK for my Batman fix; it wasn't enough and I read TEC and Batman as well. LODK is a fine series, but it does have its inconsistencies because of its anthology format. If you want a Batman comic without all the tight continuity (or you don't want to buy a million titles featuring the Caped Crusader), it's a solid, monthly fix. I hear it's ending after the existing storyline raps up in October, to be replaced with a new monthly, Batman Confidential.
